Ratings and Reviews
Nice Emails - BUT ...
The app helps you makes a nice simple email and that you can export as HTML or use your own email account. Has a ‘teams’ approach that might be useful for large businesses but not for me. Finished emails work nicely on both PC and mobile email clients. However, if you want to do anything complicated, for example anything with tables, you'll have to upgrade to the more expensive Business Pro version. What's really unfair is they don’t seem to recognize that you have a regular Business account and ask you to you purchase an ADDITIONAL account at full price. On another note – only the most basic templates are included with the app – most require purchases. My advice – don’t bother.
No updates in App Store provided since version 1.8.5
Though I have long used and really like the Mail Designer app, I am giving this app one star, because there were no updates or notices of updates provided to me in App Store since version 1.8.5 (August 2019), and no notices from Equinox that there were updates available and downloadable from the app. When I realized that there were updates I missed, and tried to update on the App Store, I was unable to do so (the infiitely spinning wheel), even though my Mail Designer 365 Business plan is valid until February 2021. When I went onto the Equinox site to look at my account, it does show that I have the 365 Business plan until next Feb. 2021., but at the top of the page it says that my "team has no subscription yet" and prompts me to buy a plan. To repeat, I already have one for which I paid almost 10 months ago! Why is there such a disconnect between Equinox and the App Store? Why were no updates offered through the App Store application since August 2019? Equinox has to do a better job of providing notices of updates to all clients who have the 365 account whether they purchased the plan through the App Store or directly from Equinox. How about letting us know there is an available update when we open the app and make it downloadable from the app? Fix this problem and I will change my rating.
Developer Response ,
Hi there!
Apple and the App Store app on your Mac take care of all updates – we’ve made the latest versions available 👍
But if that’s not working, you can always grab the very latest version from maildesigner365.com - that will also auto-update.
Happy Holidays,
The Mail Designer 365 Team
Works well
I noticed that some others here complained that it exported only image files which made me hesitant to buy it. I did though and am failry pleased with it. Although it’s not a complete drag and drop it does a pretty decent job compaired to other email builders. I’m not happy that my Pro license got wiped out by the advent of 365…I do take issue with the company over that. In my opinion, if you bought the pro version you should be grandfathered in and not have to pay ANY additional. The 365 cost should only apply to NEW purchases.
Okay, rant over, back to the issue of exporting images. I think what people are NOT paying attention to is the type of block they’re dropping into the layout. If you drop an image block into the layout and add all kinds of text, it will export as an image file. The program identifes it as such. If you add in a TEXT block, it is exported as text, not an image. I have experimented with a few HTML designs and this is what I have experienced. If your complaint as that it only exported images, do yourself a favor and try the program again. It works well.
