Description

Have you ever experienced unintended launchings of an email application by clicking mailto: links in web browsers? Usually, when you click mailto: links in web browsers, even if it is unintentional, an email application launches immediately.

By using Mailto Interceptor, you can select the following behaviors for the click of mailto: links:

- Ignore mailto: links
- Copy email address (with Option key, you can copy mailto: URL)
- Open URL in web browser (e.g. Composing view of web mails)
- Pop up a menu that allows you to select launching email app and behaviors described above

Mailto Interceptor is not a resident app. By setting Mailto Interceptor as the default email app for the click of mailto: links, it launches without appearing and bouncing the dock icon, performs the preferred behavior and quits automatically.

In addition to the click of mailto: links in web browsers, Mailto Interceptor is also launched from the share menu, Contacts app, and other sources.

Usage:

1. Launch Apple Mail.app.
2. Open Settings window.
3. Go to General tab.
4. Choose Mailto Interceptor at Default email reader.

By doing initial settings above, Mailto Interceptor reacts mailto: links and so on.

almost works

I want this to work, there’s just one bug on El Capitan 10.11.3
When i use it once, Mail.app sets itself back as the default mail client. So basically this is a one-shot solution, I have to change my preferences back to MailtoInterceptor after each mailto link I click. It works the first time, then Mail.app takes over again :(
