This isn’t really a complaint and more of a suggestion

I really enjoy this game, I’ve been playing it pretty much non stop and most people are a bit upset with the controls but after playing I’d argue that the vertical swipe controls may be superior to horizontal pseudo buttons, because the iPhones face is really slippery and rather fight the slipperiness with traditional racing game controls, not to mention clutter the view, it uses it to its advantage. Anyways on to my suggestion I would really appreciate it there was a sort of chat with friends when multiplayer comes out( assuming multiplayer player allows you to race friends and if that isn’t the case then friends are extra useless ) . The reason why is because currently friends are useless apart from getting that one achievement and I’m assuming that multiplayer will just scan to see if your friend is online and then give you a prompt to race them. I never really liked this about games who didn’t implement a chat because you may be grinding on the shell cup so that you can get to tier 5 and then you get a pop up saying your friend wants to race that’s dumb. I like to ask if anything is going on and then if we can race. Plus not everyone can text their friends through iMessage(like me).

exciting..but

getting mario kart for mobile was a huge deal for me, as this was a game i played daily as a child. however, after playing it for a little bit i have found some things that i’m not very fond of. the first being the experience needed to level up your carts being limited on a daily basis. that disappointed me as i feel like i can’t level up and get better as quickly as i would like. also, the “gold pass” is another issue i had with the game. i wouldn’t of minded paying a one time fee, but $5 MONTHLY is a bit much for a game. i pay that amount for apple music, apple arcade, etc. another tiny issue i have are the controls, i feel like that could’ve been planned out better. i was expecting the game to be played sideways, but it’s played vertical which i found odd, but not a huge deal. finally, the multiplayer aspect of the game annoyed me. i thought multiplayer would’ve been available when i downloaded the game, but after downloading and doing some research i found out it won’t be available until saturday. in my opinion, i wouldn’t of released the game until saturday then. as i was looking forward to using that feature and now i have to wait longer to use it. i think everybody is overhyping this a bit too much, and while i’m glad nintendo brought mario kart to mobile, i just think there are some aspects of the game that aren’t great which really brings the gameplay experience down. i hope future updates will improve the quality of the game.

Decent 1st Version, Definitely Still Needs Work

The initial released version of the game is decent, but there are several issues that make the game only 3 or 4 out of 5 stars. First, there is no way to allow you to decide if you want to steer regularly or to turn by drifting other than choosing Settings WHILE THE RACE IS STILL GOING and change the setting for manual steering and hope nothing happens while you do that. Second, when making very small changes in direction to straighten myself out I’ve frequently accidentally used items. Both of these issues could be resolved by changing the touch controls. I’d suggest having holding your finger on the screen should allow regular turning while a tap near the kart will allow drifting, and also having a tap away from the kart to use items. A third (minor) issue is not being able to slow down. I’ve had several cases where a Blue Shell is closing in when I’m barely in 1st and my only option to get in 2nd is to do a hard turn into a wall so the other kart gets hit instead.
Good things about the game is the very low cellular data usage when no Wi-Fi is available, the ability to auto use current items when you go through an item box so you get new items, and the great courses. I look forward to seeing the issues fixed so there will be nothing bad holding the game back.
