The best solution for writing documentation

I tried many "Markdown Editors" and found them all lacking; neither the editors nor the markdown displays worked well. One of them requires your work to be on iCloud to render properly (whoever thought that was a god idea?). Here's the perfect solution: edit your markdown document with xcode (it has line numbers, and that makes moving around easier), and concurrently display it with Marked 2. Marked 2 updates whenever a save is done, and xcode saves the document every few minutes (assuming the option to do so is on). Also, it has a better rendering engine. It's truly a beautiful solution. Marked 2 is well worth the money. I just wish I had discovered this solution sooner.

The Must-Have Companion for Markdown Documents!

Markdown is the simple way to format your plain text quickly and efficiently for whatever your ultimate destination may be. And Marked 2 is the perfect companion app to display your Markdown output, export it to other formats like rich text and pdf, or to print out your writing for further review or distribution. It does all this and more in whatever writing application you choose to use.

The developer is also constantly improving the app by adding new features and ensuring that it functions flawlessly.

Marked puts you in charge of Markdown on the Mac!

Inspiringly great

Sure, it has great Markdown previews, but it really shines because of its well-explained and well-organized options. Exploring them can unlock capabilities you probably don't know about: equations, text folding, application integrations, and proofing. Brett has continually tended to Marked for many years and it shows. Whether reading alongside your primary editor or exporting, you won't be disappointed.

Flaky: promising features; disappointing performance

My experience of this app—through many years of its revised versions—has been stained by frustration and disappointment: Frustration, because I have found Marked 2 to be unreliable—“buggy.” Disappointment, because its many features promise much functionality, which the application frequently—usually, I am sorry to report—fails to deliver. For my work, “Marked 2” has proved to be a mockup of what a really great writing tool could be, rather than a functioning application. These remarks apply to Marked 2 running on a 2012 MacBook Air with an up-to-date version of macOS; users of other Mac devices may have more satisfactory experiences.

Simple and Useful

I'm attached to my editor (Neovim) so I don't want to use a specialized markdown editor for my work. This markdown viewer is perfect, it updates automatically when I save, and indicates exactly what changed on each update. It includes github compatible rendering so I can check how my documentation will appear before I push to github. I highly recommend this to any markdown users.

Excellent app and outstanding support

I was using unnecessary HTML and I was using MultiMarkdown instead of Discount (GFM). This caused long refresh times when I modified the source Markdown file. Brett pointed me in the right direction and went beyond the call of duty by rewriting my source file to include his recommendations. Now, the refresh times are almost instantaneous. I wish there were SIX stars.

great app

I have been using this app for over a year. I spent a lot of time looking at competeing products before choosing this one.

One of the features I really like is it generates a table of contents and a pop up on demand

I wish there was a way to have it generated a table of contents and insert it directly in to the source document

If you write in Markdown, you should get Marked 2.

If I’m writing on my Mac, there’s a good chance that Sublime Text and Marked are side by side. It’s lightweight and does exactly what it says on the tin, looking nice all the while, and it’s a much nicer workflow than saving out to html then reloading a webpage. Instead, just hit ⌘+s and Marked refreshes. This is the kind of app that makes me love the Mac.

Perfect

If you love Markdown, you love text. You love elegant. You love lean, useful software. This is the Swiss Army Knife of Markdown. I use multiple Markdown editors and I wouldn't have thought I needed this. I did. And the print/export options are outrageously powerful. I don't even know where to begin. I don't review much. This is the way I like my software. Perfect.

It just works.

No muss, no fuss. I write my Markdown and have Marked 2 watching the file. It's fast, easy, and exports files to PDF for simple sharing with everybody. 5 stars for making a tool that does it's job without getting in the way.
