Clean Markdown in Quick Look

Only for Mac

Mac

Press the space bar on any Markdown file in Finder and read it formatted — headings, tables, code, and callouts. Nothing is added to your documents. MarkPeek makes Markdown file formats readable without opening anything. Select a Markdown file in Finder, press the space bar, and read it formatted — headings, bold and italic, tables, lists, task lists, links, block quotes, and fenced code. Close it and carry on. There is no window to keep open, no menu-bar icon, and nothing running in the background. CLEAN BY DEFAULT Your document is rendered and nothing else. No footer, no watermark, no "rendered by" line, no branding of any kind. What you wrote is what you see. WHAT IT RENDERS • CommonMark, plus GitHub-Flavored Markdown — tables, task lists, strikethrough and autolinks • Aligned table columns, exactly as written in the source • GitHub-style alerts — Note, Tip, Important, Warning and Caution — as coloured callouts rather than raw [!NOTE] text • Syntax highlighting for Swift, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, shell and JSON. Anything else renders as clean, unhighlighted code, because guessing at an unknown language looks worse than not guessing • YAML front matter shown as metadata instead of a stray horizontal rule • Light and dark, following your Mac automatically EVERY SPELLING OF MARKDOWN .md, .markdown, .mdown, .mkd, .mkdn, .mdwn, .mdtxt, .mdtext, .mdx, .rmd and .qmd — including R Markdown and Quarto documents. ADJUST IT IF YOU WANT TO Open MarkPeek to set light or dark, change the text size, or switch to viewing the Markdown source instead of the rendering. A live preview in the window shows each change as you make it. Nothing to save; the next preview simply follows. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Your documents are read by MarkPeek's Quick Look extension, which declares no network entitlements at all — it cannot connect, and that is a property of the build rather than a promise in a policy. No analytics, no accounts, no tracking, and nothing about your files is ever recorded or transmitted. MarkPeek is read-only and never modifies, moves, or deletes your documents. ONE THING TO KNOW macOS gives a Quick Look extension the single file you selected and nothing else. Images a document links to, therefore, cannot be loaded, and MarkPeek shows their alt text in place. This is a limit of the sandbox, not a setting that can be changed.
