Planning your next trip to Mars and need help keeping time?
Need up to date weather reports for the Red Planet?
Need to know coordinates for space junk on Mars so you can salvage it for scrap?

Mars Watch has all of this information and slightly more in a mildly interesting but ultimately pointless app. Marvel for literally seconds at the myriad ways research missions to Mars have failed. Ponder for mere milliseconds over wether you have enough warm clothes to survive the significantly sub-zero temperature highs. Speculate about why the developer feels this is a valuable use of his time.

Cool View of Mars at a Glance

I was fascinated by the real time updates of weather and current mission details on the red planet. The history lesson of “Dead probes” (past missions) was also interesting to see how far we have come in exploration.

A generous prediction would be a handful of the best of humankind visits Mars in the next 50 years. Until that time, this app helps make Mars not so out of reach.

@ckerwhite ,

When it works, it’s great!

The phone and watch apps work great, but I was mostly interested in this app for the Apple Watch complication. Unfortunately more often than not, the complication freezes on my watch and remains stuck on whatever last time it had updated to. There is also no way to set one of the several times from the app to be the one you see on the watch. Killing the app on the watch, swapping watch faces sometime fixes the complication freeze. For reference, I’m using a S0 watch running the latest version of watchOS 4.

Developer Response ,

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I’m aware of this, and it’s improved in the next update.
Thanks.

Clarity and Functionality

I appreciate the simplicity and clarity that was considered in the design and functionality of this application. With support and acknowledgement perhaps there will be more development for this subject on the iOS platform. It is well deserving. Thank You for your effort to make this a publicly available utility app. Sincerely, -R.
