Description

MARTA and Georgia Tech are partnering on a 6-month pilot (starting March 1st) of a new on-demand rideshare service, connecting riders in four zones across the region to MARTA bus and rail service. This pilot is meant to test how on-demand shuttles can be used to make it easier and faster for our riders to get to and from their destinations using MARTA. We’re calling this program: MARTA Reach. As MARTA explores new options with our NextGen Bus project, we’re using this pilot to learn how on-demand service can work to supplement and expand the reach of our buses and trains. MARTA Reach is meant to work with our existing services and will help minimize waiting and walking. This app can be used to make trip requests for MARTA Reach.

Great Concept. Hope to see it stay/grow!

I live in midtown and don’t own a car. Because of this, the only parts of Atlanta accessible to me are those accessible by transit. Once this app released, I realized that one of the coffee places I had always wanted to try was located in the east side MARTA reach zone. So last Friday I took 2 of my friends out to the Decatur rail station and called a shuttle through the app. The experience was seamless and in under 10 minutes the shuttle arrived to pick us up. The coffee was great and I was able to explore a new area of the city that I previously wouldn’t have been able to visit without spending $20 on an Uber. The entire experience was quite fulfilling and it was great to see how far $2.50 could take me with an efficient transit system in place. Hope to see this concept eventually implemented at more MARTA rail stations and in the mean time, I definitely plan on using this service again.

Absolutely necessary service

After becoming carless earlier this year, I have relied on MARTA reach to do grocery shopping. Far less expensive than getting an uber to the store and back, and far less cumbersome than trying to catch a bus with a lot of groceries. This has made being carless so much easier and less stressful! Please keep it!

Needs overview & instructions

Before I sign up for a particular location, which might or might not be available, it would be nice to know exactly how the app works and better mapping of area it serves. Either shade the areas that can use the service or have an option to input an address to search.
Right now, the map shows a few specific markers of points served and users are supposed to pick one I guess. I can’t even tell if those are the rail stations or very localized neighborhoods. I attempted to select an area near one of the points but couldn’t select anything.
I actually want to use the app to share with friends that might be able to use the service, but I can’t determine service areas at this stage in the app’s capabilities.
I know it’s a new app and they’re working on it and I think this REACH program is a phenomenal idea from MARTA and Ga. Tech and can’t wait to see it fully developed.
