I've finished the main hiragana set, about to start katakana after dakuon and youon, but so far it's been extremely helpful. I've been able to retain most of the characters I learned, and the fact it gradually builds upon while still reviewing past characters means you're building up your recognition for both "learned" and learning characters. 10/10! Before jumping in with immersion and vocab decks, I highly recommend this app to get the basics down pat asap.
It’s free and I’m able to learn without tedious distractions like ads or limits! This so far has been the only app i haven’t had any complaints with and the only one I use on the regular! (I do use textbooks and other resources)However, I do have one suggestion! I would love a way to practice writing the characters! There is a model showing how they are written and in what order the lines are drawn, but practice and muscle memory is what I’m looking for
I've been using this app for several years now. It was the first I found that I really liked using for hiragana and katana flash cards, and I've tried a lot! Now I use it for refreshers since I don't use Japanese every day. It's simple and straight forward. I also like that it isn't paywalled. It only shows ads if you get a certain number of answers wrong. Thanks for making a great app!
This app really helped with learning hiragana. It mixes previously learned hiragana with the newer ones that toured working on and really helps with memorization. I haven’t started on Katakana yet but know that I’ll do good with this app. The only thing is that I wish there was a mistake bank (unless there’s one I missed.) that I can go back and work on the missed words again but that’s all to complain about! This app is quick, easy and very helpful to use. :)
I adore this app, the little guy who cheers me on along the way makes it even better. I really want to learn Japanese and so far this has been super helpful with remembering the letters to pronouncing words, and the pro version is super cheap in my opinion!! I will definitely be buying it once I make up the money too! I was shocked when I found out this app was solo made, thank you for your hard work, I genuinely enjoy this app so much!! 😊❤️ Sayonara! Okay, I don't fully understand how this app is teaching me Hiragana, but it IS. The flow is so natural. You see a character, you swipe, you listen, you match... and somehow after a few minutes, things are starting to stick. It's like the app is quietly building connections in the back of your mind. It doesn't feel like work at all. If you're a beginner and feeling overwhelmed, this is the perfect, low-stress way to get started.
