A good multi-effects unit
I'm so glad that this has been updated; it hadn't been for a couple of years, and I had feared that it had been abandoned. That would have been too bad, because this is a very nice multi-effects module, with an interface which provides an atypically complete control of the sonic parameters of each effect, and so which can usefully fit into a signal chain without imposing any particular stylistic/sonic bias. I hope that the other modules from this developer are also going to be updated; they share the philosophy of providing lots of parametric control without attempting to emulate any particular commercially-successful gadget.
Subtle, natural-sounding effects
I've tried most of the audio effects apps that you can buy for iOS. What makes these effects special? The most important thing is how they sound: subtle and natural. The second thing is how flexible they are. You can use them in any combination, in any order, and you can process the left and right channels independently. This might not seem like a big deal, but when you're recording more than one sound at a time (let's say, a vocal and a guitar), it makes everything easier. Finally, these apps are optimized to run on a range of iPads: from a three-year-old iPad 2 to a brand-new iPad Air. The visual interface is pleasing but not flashy. That makes it easy to read, and cuts down on the memory footprint. (Simple graphics = more RAM for sound.) This is Igor Vasiliev's third audio processing app for iPad and I look forward to purchasing whatever he makes next.
