more This is a great app and it’s completely worth the money. I give it four stars because the search function is very frustrating. For instance if you barely remember a verse and want to find it you need to know the full exact word in it. For instance, if you are trying to find Mt 19:12 but don’t remember the book/chapter of it but you do remember Jesus mentioning the word eunuch in that verse, the search function won’t return that verse if you search “eunuch.” He says “eunuchs” (going off KJV) so you have to search that to find it. The search feature also deletes your search term after you select a verse to look at. If you realize it’s not the verse you were thinking of, you have to go back and type it again. This makes it really frustrating to do any kind of serious study in the app other than simple reading. With a really simple fix to the search bar, this app could work great as a concordance. I’d pay double for it if it actually did that. Another note - I saw a typo when reading the ESV in Jeremiah (possibly it was in Job). I forget where exactly but it was obviously wrong as in there was a space missing between two words. I checked my paper ESV and it had it right. This severely undermined my faith in this app - I want to know that what I’m reading is really accurate and not cross check everything that looks strange! I have not seen anything wrong in the KJV however.

The NeuBible app is a refreshing spark of intelligent app design. In a market filled apps that try to deliver bible plans and put layers of decisions between the user and the Word, NeuBible does its best to efficiently bring readers back to the Word. The first screen you are shown is a list of the books of the Bible. This makes it simple to quickly access any reference. Chapter selection is as easy as swiping on the title of the book or swiping to the left from the right while reading and scrolling to your chapter of choice. There is a reasonable selection of popular translations. Though, some do cost money. When you 3D Touch on the app icon you can jump to "Search", "Bookmark", and "Latest Highlight". There are pleasant color, typeface, and visibility options within the app. The latest update introduced true blacks and fixed a cosmetic bugs. The true blacks are stunning.

NeuBible is the bomb. Best bible reading experience anywhere. Actually, best pure READING experience anywhere (focused, uncluttered, AMAZING typography), killer intuitive navigation, not bloated with “features," etc. When I say “best reading experience”, I mean of *any* app, not just Bible apps. Kindle, iBooks, e-readers should take notes. My two main suggestions: it would be basically perfect (for me) if it had a way to take notes (supposedly they have ideas for this...) and had a way to track reading plans (like He Reads Truth, which has a great reading plan feature, but an otherwise awful reading experience).I have this general dislike for most “Christian” products, because they’re so often crappy rip-offs or very poorly executed, but NeuBible is what a “Christian” app *should* be: best in class to reflect the creativity & inspiration God gives us.

I remember when I found out about new NeuBible on Twitter, former Twitter employee leading a team of developers focused on bringing a beautiful smooth Bible reading experience to iOS. Not that the Bible needed anything on top of what it was, but that it deserved the respect of a great and thoughtful design in the modern smart phone era. I bought the app the day that it came out (this was back when it was a paid app), and I beta tested the iPad app as well. It is my absolute favorite Bible app, and I recommend it to everyone who asks me what Bible app I use. I'm thrilled to support the team of developers who wants to provide a great experience to the Christian community, and sees the value in creating a great Bible reading experience for my iPad and iPhone. Thank you guys so much for the hard work!

Since its release Neu Bible has stood as a testament to beautiful and thoughtful design, originating from the inspired visions of Aaron Martin and Kory Westerhold. As we turn the page to an exciting new chapter, the torch has been handed to Jonathan and Joshua Bailey of the Dwell Bible App. With a legacy of crafting Dwell, celebrated as the world's premiere Scripture listening app, the Baileys are set to infuse Neu Bible with their deep-rooted expertise and passion for Scripture. The goal is to ensure Neu Bible not only continues its legacy but flourishes and grows for years to come. A new beginning starts now.

2.0.1 10/02/2023
It's been quite a while but we're back.
With new iPhones, iPads, and different screen sizes, we’ve set out to fill ever pixel on your device. Numerous visual layout bugs were fixed as well on all those new notches.
And surprise! If you're on an iPhone X or newer, you'll get a new true-black dark mode. It's something we're testing out for everyone on those buttery smooth OLED screens. Let us know if you'd like it.
Last but certainly not least, we've fixed the translation bugs you've been emailing about. We've found so many (thanks to your continuous emails) that we’re bound to have missed a few. Please continue to email if you find anything that's off in your favorite translation. Hopefully this makes your Advent reading easier.
----------
We appreciate everyone who has continued to read here in NeuBible. We're thankful for the time you've spent in the Bible with us.
1.2.5 12/11/2018
There was a bug that caused some iPad users to not get results when searching, so we fixed it. So now your double-tap while reading—or your tap on the mag glass in the navigation—will give you your results back when searching.
1.2.4 12/07/2017
We found a bug that crashed NeuBible when you tried to change the font preference, and squished it.
----------
We've been quiet but we couldn't stay quiet through the release of a new iPhone!
Everything you love about NeuBible has been designed to feel beautiful and clean on your new iPhone X. Along with support for the new pixels and notches, we've fixed a ton of translation bugs that will make your reading a little bit better.
----------
Again, we are grateful of all the kind words you've said about NeuBible. We've read each email and taken note of every request and suggestion. We may not have responded, but we honestly consider each email as they come in. Keep them coming! We're still committed to making NeuBible the best way to read the Bible on your iPhone or iPad.

Our 'biggest update yet...NeuBible for iPad is here!!!
Don't worry iPhone users, we didn't forget about you—we’ve also added 3D touch support on the homescreen for the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus, and also cleaned up a bunch of translations issues.
TL;DR
Native iPad support:
• Everything is new here, we've reimagined NeuBible for the larger screen of the iPad
• Redesigned translation browsing
• We heard you! !e've removed the "continue reading" notification (!!) and now just drop you back in the app where you left off!
• We've applied new device-specific margin metrics for each specific iPad size (7.9", 9.7" & 12.9")
• Doubled line truncation for verses in timeline view from 3 lines to 6 lines
iPhone:
• If you’re using NeuBible for iPhone, you won’t notice any visual changes—but you will notice that we’ve fixed a bunch of translation issues that have plagued everyone.
• We've removed the "Continue Reading" notification you'd see on opening the app after extended periods of time (and now just drop you where you last left off)
• We’ve also added 3D touch support from the app icon on your home screen, so let us know if that’s buggy for you on your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus.
Translation fixes:
• (FIXED) ESV combining words together, most notably uses of the divine “LORD” in the Old Testament
• (FIXED) ESV had some verses at the end of books and chapters missing
• (FIXED) HCSB had some issues where multiple headers all be together at the top of the book and not inline where they should have been
• (FIXED) HCSB had random bullets and special characters littered throughout chapter section headers that are used for meta data and reference callouts, and we’re properly removing those
• (FIXED) HCSB had some tab and hard-return issues in the poetry books, but not anymore
• (FIXED) NASB is no longer wrapping the divine usage of “Lord” in the Old Testament in brackets
-----------
As always, we continue to be floored by everyone's response to NeuBible. We thank you again for your continued support!
We are a small 3-person team, so if you love using the app, be sure to leave a review on the App Store!

Our "biggest" update ever—introducing NeuBible for iPad!
With NeuBible for iPad, we've taken everything we love about NeuBible and made it work beautifully on larger screens. We put a ton of work into getting this *just* right, and hope you love using it as much as we do!
This update isn't just about the iPad, though...
We also added 3D Touch icon support for the iPhone 6s & 6s Plus, finally got rid of the “Continue Reading” notification (now you just always open up where you left off), and cleaned up a bunch of translations issues many of you have been seeing.
—————————
iPad:
• Native iPad (& iPad Pro) support!
• Device-specific margin metrics for different iPad size classes (7.9”, 9.7” & 12.9”)
• Redesigned translation browsing experience
• 6 line verse truncation in timeline view for improved readability
• ...and a whole lot of other stuff you just have to look for!
iPhone:
• 3D touch shortcut support from the app icon on your home screen.
• We’ve removed the “Continue Reading” notification you’d see on opening the app after extended periods of time…and now just drop you where you last left off. Sorry that one took us so long!
• Lots of little visual and translation bug fixes
Translations:
• (FIXED) ESV combining words together, most notably uses of the divine “LORD” in the Old Testament
• (FIXED) ESV had some verses at the end of books and chapters missing

1.2 05/05/2016
A little update to make sure that everything is running nice and smooth for you on iOS 9. We also fixed the spacing and formatting bugs in the ESV and HCSB. Sorry about that!
----------
We'd apologize for being quiet the past couple months, but we think you're going to be excited about what we've been working on. We don't wanna give anything away, but let's just say it rhymes with "SCHMY SCHMAD" ;)
As always, if you love using NeuBible, be sure to leave us a review and tell your friends about us!

1.1.2 09/16/2015
It's finally here! The ESV (English Standard Version) is now available in NeuBible!
**Also, the NIV & NKJV are 50% off for the month of July**
We also fixed some some bugs we missed in our previous release:
- That red-letter bug where not all of Jesus' words were showing up in red? That's fixed now. Sorry about that.
- There was a bug in the NIV where some verses weren't showing up at the ends of some chapters. Well, not anymore.
- The HCSB had some text spacing and formatting issues that we got rid of, so it should look much better now!
-----
Lastly, we wanted to thank you all again for continuing to be so supportive and helping champion NeuBible by getting the word out about it. We really try to be as active and responsive as possible on Twitter and Facebook, but honestly, the main way people find out about the app is through word-of-mouth, so it's a tremendous help! We honestly couldn't continue to do this without all of you, so thank you.
- Kory & Aaron
1.1.1 07/14/2015
THIS IS A BIG ONE! Seriously, there's really almost too much to list...but we're going to try :)
First and foremost, NeuBible is now FREE! We truly believe NeuBible to be the best way to read the Bible on your iPhone—and because of that, we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to experience it.
MORE TRANSLATIONS!!! So in addition to the previously available translations, we now have the HCSB (which is now the new default translation), as well as the NIV, NKJV and CEB available in the app. We also designed some rad, modern covers for them that we hope you like as well.
SMART BOOKMARKING: We know that lots of people use bookmarks simply to mark where they left off reading. Well now, instead of having to remember where you left off, NeuBible does the work for you. Whenever you return to the app after any extended period of time, you'll be given the choice to return to where you were previously reading, or just go back to the book list.
GOOD, OLD FASHIONED REGULAR BOOKMARKING: Still want to leave an actual bookmark on a verse or section of scripture? Well you can do that too. Whenever you select a verse, in addition to highlighting, you can now bookmark it as well. You can find your bookmarks in the timeline view.
TIMELINE VIEW: With the timeline view you can go back and find all of the verses you've highlighted. You'll also find the date and time you made the highlight to help provide you more context for the highlight.
SMART HIGHLIGHTING: We think this one is pretty cool. If you highlight multiple verses within a relatively short period of time—say during a church service or Bible study—you're highlighted verses will be grouped together in the timeline so you can remember they're related.
CHAPTER & VERSE TITLES: Depending on which translation you're using, you'll now notice chapter and verse titles are now rendered inline while reading.
ICLOUD SYNC: If you somehow deleted NeuBible from your phone, losing all your highlights and interactions with your Bible would be devastating. We've enabled iCloud Sync, which will seamlessly keep your highlights and timeline backed up, so you can sleep better knowing you'll never have to worry about that happening.
POLISH, POLISH, POLISH: We're constantly making sure NeuBible is as polished and easy-to-use as possible, so we moved a couple things around and cleaned up a bit of the UI to so it's even more easy to use.
SQUASHED A BUNCH OF BUGS: Cleaned up a bit of code and little UI & text rendering bits to make sure things are running smoothly and seamlessly.
-----------
On a personal note, we are so lucky (and blessed) to count you all as users along on this journey with us. Your incredible passion and insight has not only helped in starting to get the word out about NeuBible, but also in helping shape the future of the app. We seriously couldn't do this without you. We look forward to continuing to grow this thing into what we believe it can be! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
1.1.0 05/08/2015
This release of NeuBible is about cleaning house a bit, but stay tuned for some goodies and additional translations in v1.1!
In 1.0.1, we've polished some of the text rendering issues, fixed some little visual bugs that made their way through in 1.0 and made sure the app and text are as polished as they can be.
Thanks again everyone for all of your support—we couldn't do this without you!
