About the musicians:
Obituary remains one of the most influential and groundbreaking bands in the death metal genre, one which they helped to create. Hailing from the sunny state of Florida with a bevy of bands with a decidedly un-sunny take on metal Obituary combine hyper-speed guitar riffing, complex arrangements and guttural screams to create a bleak and violent soundscape that defined a genre. Unlike their peers though, Obituary avoided the more common trappings of this style of music shunning the Satanic bent of the lyrics and the breakneck pace of the dual guitar assault.

Useless because loops don’t play together in rhythm

Poorly designed interface with no ability to actually play more than one loop at a time while maintaining a rhythm. These loops might be useful if exported and sequenced in a DAW but the app itself is useless for creating any actual drum tracks, unless a single loop playing over and over is all you want—switching to add a fill just adds obvious gaps and glitches in a track, rather than maintaining flow and rhythm. Can’t imagine what they thought this would be any good for, but it makes this app a total waste.

Shame really, the lack of effort in making an app that would actually be useful is obvious. Clearly churned out with zero thought to how it would actually be used by anyone. There’s a reason they have to give this away for free for anyone to even bother with it at all.

Edit: I see the developer responded but did not address my complaints substantively. I stand by my review: this is a useless garbage app and a waste of time and money.

Developer Response ,

1)The interface is designed for simplicity as it is used as a practice app.
2)" One beat at a time" Yes, doubling up on death metal drums would just be murky
3) "Clearly churned out with zero thought" all this is stated in the description, please read before you review.

It’s not worthy

I really wanted to like this app. Unfortunately, you cannot download any other beats from the web, even though it states you can. You only get 4 or 5 beats with a few fills. There is a small lag between when you touch a beat button and when it actually starts, which makes putting a fill in the mix with any kind of continuity difficult. The absolute worst part of it all is that anytime you scroll up or down, or move the sliders while a beat is playing, it distorts and speeds up tempo, sounding like you're dragging a mic down a gravel road, which makes choosing other beats, changing the volume or tempo, completely useless. I only gave it 1 star because if you just want an unchanging beat that drones on forever, it’s great for that. But I wouldn't suggest buying this app if you have any ideas about using it to write songs, like, at all.

Developer Response ,

Re; Dude-on-vocals; I apologize I was waiting for certain contacts to be signed before I released the beats on the web. That is finished and the beats are made public via abustudio.tech Thank you for your help addressing that. Thanks for that one star, for "unchanging beat that drones on" I designed it to be a drum machine for musicians to practice rudimentary metal drum loops, so that is a compliment to me. It sounds like you might have a problem with your phone or maybe the app because I tested it with a digital oscilloscope and the timing was perfect. I hired professional producer and legendary drummer Donald Tardy, and everyone recognized the beats were precise. Try deleting the app and re downloading. At least you got it for out Halloween free app download day!
Don't be a stranger, my contact info is at on the same site as the beats so get in touch!
