- shows publicly available air quality data for your locality (chosen automatically based on IP address, or manually by you)
- gives 1 hour weather forecast (including air quality data & pollen prediction, where available globally)
- lists potential pollution source data, such as electrical generation, aircraft overhead & road traffic (availability of data varies globally)
- shows and help make sense of climate change data (CO₂ emissions & global warming)
- menu bar icon changes colour to match current AQI PM₂.₅ conditions (and can show AQI numerically too)
- each data source is clickable to launch further information to see trends & forecasts
- notifies if the AQI quality worsens beyond a threshold you set, or separately if it improves below a threshold you set (ideal to help decide if you want to go for a run or not!)
- shows historical Air Quality (and compares to World Health Organisation guidelines) for SmartCitizen & PurpleAir users
- updates its metrics every 30 minutes or 15 minutes
- simple graphics help make sense of the numbers given
- free open source software

Data is sourced from PurpleAir (only publicly available sensors), RapidAPI, global-warming.org/US NOAA, WAQI/AQICN.org, SmartCitizen, Sensor.Community, Electricity Maps, OpenSky, Telraam & Tomorrow.io.

Capable app. Needs some enhancements.

First off, I do like the app so far. However, there are a couple ideas for it.

One: Allow the user to specify temperatures in the summary page to be displayed as Celcius or Fahrenheit. Mine are being displayed as Celcius, I prefer Fahrenheit.

Two. Put an option to load automatically at system startuo. Having to use System Settings and manually insert the appp into the Startup Apps section is a hassle when one click could do it.

Great app, responsive developer!

With air quality in the bay area currently touch and go it's great to be able to get a quick sense of whether it's safe to go outside or open the windows, and Miasma provides just that ability. I am able to pin the menubar widget to my PurpleAir sensor and know in a glance what's going on or a quick check of the popdown menu and I immediately get other weather vitals from the same sensor. This is basically exactly what I wanted and I'm 100% satisfied.

I'll add that I started to have a crash-at-startup bug with a recent update and reached out to the developer. Within minutes I had a response and after a quick exchange they'd isolated the problem and provided a new build that addressed the issue (even though it's well into the evening in their time zone)! Outstanding service and responsiveness in addition to a useful app. Thank you.

Great app, need enhancement

thansk for the greate app as air quality is not good in my area, I met an issue to update date on both WAQI and PurpleAir, when input right vaule, both of them have error,please take xi'an for testing and fix it, thanks
