MIDITrail is a MIDI player which provides 3D visualization of MIDI data sets. You can enjoy not only listening but also viewing. MIDITrail supports Standard MIDI File (format 0/1), and multiple MIDI ports. Quick Start 1. Drop your MIDI file into the window. 2. Push space key to play/pause, and push ESC key to stop.

I really enjoy all of the visualization features. One issue, though -- MIDITrail does not have a volume control. I don't like to adjust my main system volume and MIDITrail is extremely loud compared to other apps. I don't know the technical aspects of MIDI playback, but even if the volume was an emulated volume control, it would be very desireable. Thank you! :-)

Great app; latest update still crashes on MIDI file open

Last two updates of the app still crash when trying to open a known good MIDI file on a 2019 MacBookPro with core i9 CPU running MacOS Ventura.

If you see an error message, could you please post it on the message board of the project site?And you can download previous versions of the app on the project site.

I am using this to review 20 years of MIDI files that I have written. This gives me many great surprises. The way it visually plays the music is fantastic. I’ve tried to contact the developer to ask a question but the site is down.

Set your file associations to play MIDI files with this, so convenient, and not only does it play the file, but it arranges instruments correctly, and visually separates the tracks in a 3D space. So it is fun to look at and even helps you understand the structur of the song.
