Can’t purchase cards told it was denied
Today I tried to purchase a gift card and kept being told that it was denied, the credit card company told me that they denied nothing and that that no charges were made today. It also tells me to revalidate my mileage plus account. Customer service told me that they will have to turn it over to the development team and I will have to wait 7-10 business days. That’s one way to slow down my ability to earn more miles.
Charged twice, but no gift card.
I tried to purchase a $25 gift card to Starbucks. I received an email saying there was an error and I would be refunded within 5 days. I’ve purchased many cards and had never seen that email. So I tried again with the same result. I had 2 x $25 charges pending. 3 days later I see the first charge post. So I call United mileage plus program and and am given a different number. So I call that number and they are closed on the weekend. I understand things happen but there doesn’t seem to be any recourse. So now I will have to spend more time try to fix their error with them or with my bank reversing the charges. It’s frustrating because everything is through the app and immediate except when they screw up, then I have to call someone during business hours. I will try to call them on Monday.
I’ve been using this app since I joined the program. I love the fact that it allows me to boost my mileage balance by purchasing e-gift cards which are also very secure to shop. However, this year I have experienced the inconvenience of having the transaction declined for no apparent reason. It happens this summer and this weekend. I tried again today to find the same issue. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app hoping that would fix the problem. I have also powered off my phone, but the same issue keeps coming up. I have contacted United by using the email they provided. I hope to be able to obtain an answer soon. Needless to say, this issue is frustrating as it keeps happening.
