Satisfied But.....

I have used KeePass on my Windows box and on various Linux boxes for years, and have no reason to change. I was curious about the key file feature and decided to try it out. It works fine on Windows, I could use a not so obvious name in a total different directory making it very difficult for anyone to hack into it. The problem arises when I tried to use it on my iPad. I keep a copy on Dropbox so as to be able to get a fresh copy wherever I am, but KeepPass doesn't talk directly to Dropbox. In order to use the key file you need to name it exactly the same as the database, with the extension of .key. How secure is that? You might as well not even use a key file. I prefer to call it something totally different and keep it on a separate drive. It even lists the key file name in the logon screen, to give potential thieves a leg up. Whoever thought of that one should go back to mommys basement until he learns how to hide data. Other than being unable to do searches for a key file of your choice on my iPad, I am happy with the way it works. I haven't tried it yet on my phone. I'm sure there will be something similar.

Great app, one fatal flaw

I love the app. It does exactly what it promised to do, keep a copy of all of my passwords close at hand. My only problem is that I'm unable to share the database from my iphone. I can share it from my iPad to my iPhone, but I don't always carry the iPad with me so any updates done to the phone need to be re-entered on the iPad IF I remember to do so ...

We've lost data because of this! My wife also carries a copy of our database and occasionally updates it, but forgets to copy the changes to the iPad before I push a new copy of the database. The PC version of KeePass (version 2.0) can reconsile differences between databases and even sync changes made by different users at the same time. I'd be happy if MiniKeePass would just tell me a newer version exists ...

Great App - Works Exactly As Described!!

MiniKeePass has always worked perfectly for me and it does exactly what the description says it can do.

Many of the negative reviews complain about issues syncing to their cloud storage (e.g. Dropbox) but it's clear from reading the description that MiniKeePass doesn't have automatic cloud sync functionality. What it says is you can export to and from Dropbox or any other cloud storage app.

How it works using Dropbox as the example:

In Dropbox browse to the KeePass File you want to open in MiniKeePass. With the file open click option - Export > Open In > Copy to MiniKeePass.

This creates a copy of the file on your phone that only MiniKeePass can access. You can open and use this KeePass repository in MiniKeePass but any changes you make are made to this local copy and won't sync automatically.

You can manually sync or overwrite the original file with the one modified in MiniKeePass but opening the file and clicking the arrow then "Import with Dropbox". It will prompt you to choose the location and you can overwrite the copy in Dropbox with the copy you modified in MiniKeePass.

Hope that clears this up for some of you. The developer worked hard to create a great app that does exactly what it's supposed to and is free so don't be so quick to complain and criticise before you read the description and know if the app does what you think it should.
