An essential tool for fairgoers, but could be better
There’s a lot to like about this app, such as the map feature and ease of finding the information you want. I also like how the subject matter is organized into understandable categories.
Suggested improvements are mostly related to marking of favorite attractions: 1. It gets confusing when events marked as favorites have concluded, but still remain marked in the app and therefore appear on the map. As a result, the user must unmark favorites after they’ve concluded. It would be great if all marked favorites simply disappeared at the end of the day they occur. 2. If the user marks multiple favorite events at the same venue and then touches on the starred pin on the map, it only reveals the last scheduled event. Is there a way to display all the favorite events at a venue when touching on the pin? Or as an alternative, could a favorites list option be created so the user can keep their choices better organized?
Lastly, can the official color Fair map be integrated into the app’s map feature, so all essential features are displayed, including rest rooms, information booths, designated smoking areas, etc? It’s annoying to need a separate map containing the above information. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
Pretty good overall
It’s nice that it has location awareness on a map so it is easy to get around. Also not sure if this is new for 2018 but the map now pins what you star so you can easily see where they are which is really nice.
It would be great if there could be an option to tag or group places .. that way for those of us who star where we would like to visit could have a quick tag or note as to what we would like to get from there. Maybe this would be shown when you tap on the pin on the map. Or maybe color coding a pin based off what you want from there (breakfast item, beer, etc).
Otherwise it’s great. I don’t know why there’s a lot of negative reviews. Maybe people can’t work their phones that well?
Update - App is okay but could use re-design
This app is very simple in design and functionality. I don’t like the stripes as the background because when scrolling through the pages of lists, it creates an optical illusion that makes me eyes hurt. The home screen is blank - this is a missed opportunity to have the daily deals (Thrifty Thursday, Kids Day, Military Appreciation Day, etc.). I would also love to see the ability to buy tickets in app now, especially because the tickets are scanned at the gate.
I wish there were ways to search food by dietary preference (vegetarian/vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.) the way you can search New Foods or foods on a stick. Though, I do like that you can use a keyword search and it pulls up some results, but only if the description includes the specific word. Add in pictures of the foods? Also, allowing notes and lists for foods would be great. Integrating that with the map to help route where vendors are and the best route to get from place to place.
Lastly, the app is not great if you use an iPhone X/Xs/XR, because the “home indicator” line at the bottom can interfere with choosing the app page you want to navigate to, especially the shopping vendor page. Time to move them to the top. I hope for 2020 the Fair updates and redesigns this app to be more functional.
