Mission Orion puts you at the controls of NASA's newest spacecraft, Orion. Dock Orion with the International Space Station above earth. Or fly Orion to the SkyLab II space station orbiting the Moon.
Mission Orion is a full 6 degree-of-freedom simulator. It has been built using the NASA designs for the Orion spacecraft.
Each time you dock, Mission Orion tells you how well you did. The closer to the middle of the docking target, the better.

Addicting for Simulator Fans
I'm into simulation games, so this one is right up my alley, because I know the real Orion is ridiculously difficult to pilot; this game is just realistic enough to give a flavor of what the real astronauts contend with, while not distracting with an avalanche of minutiae the real astronauts deal with. The incredible attention to detail (from the flight physics to the gorgeous exterior and interior vehicle graphics) keeps me coming back for more and along the way admire the careful craftsmanship that went into producing this game. This isn't for younger children, but if you are a fan of simulators as I am, this plugs a gap in the realistic (but not hyper-realistic-need real-manuals level realism like some flight sims can get) spacecraft sim lineup.
If it wasn't for the centering buttons that probably don't exist on the real vehicle, I'd have my virtual Orion keys taken away from me a long time ago. As it is, I'm having a blast (pun intended) rocketing around the ISS and Skylab 2.
With the first flight of Orion occurring on December 4, this is a great time for this app to be released. I like the realism, while the app still has a fairly easy interface. Two features I would request and recommend: (1) an easier, quicker mode for kids (I work with students); and (2) the option to record strong performances to the photo album for replay.
You can tell a lot of thought went into designing the interface to be both realistic but also usable. The detail of the spacecrafts are amazing. My score on my first flight was 48. Am I ready to be recruited by NASA?
