I purchased a competitor’s product last summer. I had an issue and contacted support, and no response to multiple inquiries over a couple of weeks time.

I decided to purchase the Moleskine Smart system as a smart notebook is helpful in my work, and it lives up to its promise. I did have a minor issue which I’ve reported to their support, and got a timely and helpful response. I wish I bought this system in the first place.

I love having a hard- and soft-copy of notes. I wanted to try the different modes of the device and found the following on the first day of trying it.
1) Live streaming to the app works fine. Most strokes were appropriately captured if you hold the pen properly.
2) Off-line capture only grabbed about a page’s worth of strokes before it quit capturing. I don’t know if the pen quit capturing or if the transfer of data failed when the app re-connected. This is obviously a problem if you depend on a soft-copy.
3) The best way to make sure it reconnects properly for a new session (meaning any time you turn the pen back on) is to force close the app, turn the pen on, then re-open the app. This is obviously a problem if you want to capture quick notes or fleeting ideas.
4) The app crashes without any notice as to why. Are error logs captured anywhere?
5) I have a feeling the app content is not being saved in iCloud, which should be the default. If I lose the data because my iOS device dies or it is stolen, I’m out of luck.

I purchased a pen and a few notebooks and I’ve been having syncing issues across devices since day one. I sent tech support 4 separate emails in the last two two weeks and I haven’t had a single reply. It’s pretty disappointing considering the high cost of the device and the beautiful notebooks. I love Moleskin and have supported the brand throughout the years, but I’ve been pretty shocked at how unresponsive their tech-support is. I hope they will prove me wrong when they read this.

(Additionally the pen’s battery life is far from what was advertised. But my main issue is not being able to sync properly, despite trying every troubleshooting idea available).
