Note: Monit does not currently work on macOS Big Sur. We need a bit more time, but an update will come.

Monit Widget is a modest, but ambitious, Notification Center Widget for monitoring your Computer.

Please see for more details.

● The Widget connects to an external host to get your Public IP-address. This is the only reliable way to obtain your address. No data is sent, only read.

● Temperature, fan-speed, disk i/o and exact process resource usage are available by installing a small helper program from The Helper uses no CPU when the Monit Widget is not running and less than 3 MB of ram.

● The Top-5 App List shows App CPU usage normalized (0-100%) across all CPU cores.

Monit Helper not working on Catalina

And that's the whole reason I purchased Monit. I hate sneaky software like that - their homepage clearly shows Monit WITH THE HELPER INSTALLED. (I.e., with additional sensors.) Which is the only reason I paid for it. Only to learn that by default, it only has basic sensors like CPU and disk utilization. (Yawn.) To get the snazzy sensors, you have to download and install the Monit Helper. Which alas, while it installs, it doesn't work - reboots be damned. I don't know if portraying Monit with the Helper (that doesn't work) is intentional false advertising. I'd like to give benefit of doubt, but if not, it's a neglegent oversight.

To see the extra details, click on a circle chart. For instance, if you click the CPU circle the widget will expand and show details about your CPU etc. The Helper is not needed for this.

I almost gave this 1 star.

I bought this to check TEMP and FAN speed. I installed the HELPER separately, as this is needed. Then, these things were nowhere to be seen. I found from another review that you have to CLICK on the CPU circle. That's NOT intuitive. So now I know HOW to see the info I was concerned about. I think this info should be available via some little icons or something to at least let you know that it maybe wasn't CATALINA blocking the info or something... I almost gave up and then decided to see what others thought in these comments. That's the ONLY reason I now give it 5 stars.

Helpful data, but App (Active) memory valuye is off

I am not sure what "Active" memory refers to in this app, but I assume it is referring to "App Memory" usage in Activity Monitor. For me, Monit's "Active" Memory value is about 12 GB below what Activity Monitor reads for "App Memory." Also, Monit does not include "Cached Files" in its memory calculation...which is often about 10-14 GB of RAM for me. All together, this causes Monit to display about 22-26 GB of RAM usage below the value in Activity Monitor. Other apps I use to display RAM usage agree with Activity Monitor's value. Not sure why Monit handle's RAM usage like it does. But, in my case, it appears the feature needs retooling.
