Monkey Wrench is a fun word find quiz game with a twist that will challenge your brain – you have to use the clues to figure out what the hidden words are! If you like crossword puzzles and wordsearch games, you’ll love Monkey Wrench!

The answers will be about movies, food, science, sports, music, fashion, history and many other subjects (with lots of fun wordplay) – the 3 difficulty levels and helpful hints will give you just the kind of fun word-searching fun spelling game you’ve been looking for. Words are hidden in a grid, but the monkey wrench in the quiz that will tease and challenge you is that before you can find the words, you need to work out what they are!

Each puzzle consists of a grid of hexagonal tiles with letters. Some tiles are shaded; these are the first letters of the clues that fit into the categories at the top of the screen (swipe sideways to see more categories). Trace or tap a path of connected tiles to select letters and spell out an answer. If your answer matches one of the clues spelling out the word, the tiles disappear and you will find yourself closer to solving the puzzle. Use your brain to hunt for all the clues to clear the tiles and win!

Monkey Wrench comes with one free bundle of 25 puzzles (with more puzzle packs available for purchase) and the three most recent daily puzzles are also available. Every puzzle has three difficulty levels – find the right one to tease and challenge your brain:

EASY shows you all the full answers to the clues you need to search for.
MEDIUM shows you only the first letters of each word.
HARD gives you nothing but blanks to fill in.

You can monkey around between difficulty levels hunting for answers by resetting the puzzle. You may also use the available hints to reveal the vowels of a clue, the last letter, or its location in the grid. Monkey Wrench is a puzzle challenge for all ages with categories to give everyone interesting challenges to solve. The daily puzzles will tease and challenge your brain while you try to hunt for the answers and unravel this fun and entertaining word quiz.

Monkey Wrench is no ordinary word game (crossword, anagram puzzle, wordsearch, etc.) – before you can find the words, you need to figure out what they are by using the clues provided. With three difficulty levels to tease and test you and terms to hunt for from pop culture, science, geography, history and so much more, Monkey Wrench is word-puzzling fun for the whole family!

The Monkey Wrench app comes with a free pack of 25 puzzles, free daily puzzles and more than 1000 additional puzzles available for purchase. Download Monkey Wrench today and play the most creative and interesting spelling quiz game that is as addictive as it is fun.

Brain sharpener

Part of my daily dose of critical thinking to keep my brain sharp.
I like that it has three levels of difficulty and lets me choose which one I want to use. Begin at “easy” to get the feel of the game. Move to regular mode until comfortable with your guesses. Now, after years of play, I only choose hard mode and that is just the maximum complexity I need for the game to be challenging yet still fun.
As with their Red Herring game, I also find that I sometimes want to search the web to understand why a word I guessed was correct. That keeps we learning about aspects I life I may never had thought about.
Simply UI. They don’t mess around with unnecessary updates that would ruin a perfectly made game like other free apps.

Love but.....

All of a sudden I can’t access it unless I agree/disagree to have my info marketed.
I did not agree and it pops up a ‘thank you’ for agreeing. I had to contact the company they use and I can’t delete my info as I don’t have google ads. I was just asked by Apple if I wanted to update this. Apparently I’ll still receive ads that aren’t targeted. I’d still rather have that than give them more info about me. Also, I had to contact the ad mngmt company to find out how to remove the notice so I could access the game. It took a few steps including downloading another app! If you’re not tech savvy it could be very frustrating.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for letting us know about your experience. Whether you agree to the notice or not, you will receive ads. The notice just allows you to get ads that will be more relevant to you. However, if you believe that that your consent was wrongly given, you can remove it by going to your device settings, and then choosing Privacy, and then choosing Advertising, and then tapping "Reset Advertising Identifier." This will cause the pop-up to appear again, and you can make sure to select the choice you prefer.

Used To Be Great

I still play the game and have purchased a few puzzle packs. But between the ridiculous 30-second ads in the daily puzzles and what seems like a lack of effort to come up with decent puzzle answers, I’m really disappointed. Current example of the laziness in puzzle answers is from the June 23 daily puzzle. Ready?
People from 1950s history: Patsy Cline, Gene Autry, and Jack Webb.
How is that “history”? That is entertainment, not history! This is not an isolated example, and has become more frequent. This is really low-effort puzzle building.

Please lose the obnoxious ads and put some decent effort back into your puzzles. I just can’t see buying any more puzzle packs if the developer won’t make an effort on their end.

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide that thoughtful review. We take all of this input seriously and are trying hard to balance our revenue needs with the best possible playing experience. We hope it helps, at least, that none of the paid packs have or will have advertising in them.
