Every day people of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels use Morphi to create, sketch, invent, prototype, visualize, teach, tell stories, explain ideas and much more. Vertical drip irrigation farming system prototypes, assistive drawing devices, model rocket parts, biodesign lighting, casings for robots + electronics, compostable couture gowns, characters for animated shorts, bubblewands, jewelry, cookie and pottery cutters, plates for printmaking and immersive augmented reality artwork. Theses are some of the thousands of projects designed by members of our community in over 120 countries.
Morphi has many tools to empower people to more easily express, remix and evolve their ideas in 3D, including:
-Design anywhere without logins or a WiFi connection.
-Sketch and draw 3D models, including using freehand, straight lines and 2D shapes to draw, symmetry, revolving lines, erasing lines, vector drawing + editing with control points + other 2D to 3D tools.
-Turn high contrast line images (jpg, png, bmp, svg) into editable 3D designs. Min 500x500 for best results.
-Robust CAD + 3D modeling tools like intersect, group, merge, copy, align, tapping copy, arrays and other tools for creating more complex designs.
-Add texture/materials to 3D designs using your images or videos.
-Highlight 3D designs with quick lighting options.
-Import 3D models (STL+OBJ) from other Morphi apps + edit.
-Import 3D models (STL+OBJ without defects) from other 3D modeling apps. Note: Boolean operations (subtract, merge, ungroup, intersect) may not work depending on how the model's mesh was created in the third party software.
-Export STL + OBJ files (3D models) for Augmented Reality viewing, editing + interacting on our Morphi iPad apps (one time $9.99 inapp purchase required) or for VIRTUAL REALITY viewing on your favorite AR/VR devices like Hololens, Occulus, Merge Cube.
-Export of STL and OBJ files for 3D printing following printer/printing service guidelines. 3D printers vary, but generally the file is uploaded to printer's slicing software for printing.
-Export of STL and OBJ files for use in game design, animation, for further editing in other 3D modelers.
-Simple 3D lithophane tool to create 3D printed etchings + terrain.
-Change the background + grid to create more engaging scenes or export 3D designs with transparent backgrounds for graphic design or green background for green screen projects.
-Save files directly to your Mac or third party storage solutions.
-Quickly teach yourself to design in 3D with our short video tutorials and other support under the About Morphi section in the top toolbar.
-Incredible community of designers, educators, students, artists, entrepreneurs, inventors + others using the app.

Better than most for basic 3D printer designs
This app obviously has some bugs, so save often. It also doesn’t have seperate “Save” and “Save As” options for your editable .morphi files, so you need to copy your save file and rename it manually if you want to create and save several variations of the same basic design. However, for someone who is just building models for 3D printing and who doesn’t need the more advanced features of full-fledged 3D modelling packages, it gets the job done and is fairly intuitive. There is definitely room for improvement here, but this is probably the best app on the MacOS app store for basic 3D modelling in this price range. There are better web-based options, but I prefer installed apps and I prefer to install apps from the app store. If you have similar needs, this is probably your best option right now. With a few tweaks, this could be a really solid 5-star app. I’m excited to see how this app will mature in future updates.

Hi Seadron, many thanks for your kind words about Morphi. We just released Morphi for Mac version 3.3 so please try it (update is free) and let us know your thoughts. Note: you can always reach out to us directly at email@example.com with any comments or suggestions. Regarding save vs save as, we would be happy to consider adding a simple save. Currently users seems to use all 3 save as functions so we have kept it that way for maximum flexibility. Lots to come on all of our Morphi app platforms so stay tuned. All best, Morphi app team
An amazing 3D design and modeling app!
My kids and I decided to get Morphi for Mac because we love the Morphi iPad app (which they also use in school) and wanted to see what it would be like to design in the app on our home desktop. We use Morphi to create 3D models for a variety of different projects from 3D printing to AR to character design. Overall, the app is incredibly powerful on Mac and it's just as simple and robust as it is on the iPad.
Morphi on Mac has many awesome features. We love the variety of 2D to 3D drawing tools, including revolve and symmetry, which other simple 3D apps don't seem to have. We also love the simplicity of the CAD tools, like intersect, which we use to make organic looking objects. The texturing tools on Mac are also easy to use like on iPad - we can add an image or video to any model or part of a model and use the UV sliders to map textures on flat or curved shapes.
We can also airdrop our designs from Morphi on Mac to the Morphi iPad app for placing and viewing in Augmented Reality, which has been a fun way to quickly visualize our ideas.
There are short videos on each of the tools linked inside the app and their handbook is helpful and easy to follow. Like any 3D app there is a learning curve, but Morphi has been the easiest 3D app for us to master by far and we have tried a few.
Thanks for a great app Morphi and we look forward to more amazing updates.

this is the worst app I've seen in years on a Mac. Just for starters, the name of the active file should be the window title at the top. Nope, it's always Morphi.
I tried a simple project with a cylinder. After fooling around I finally got the dimensions to show. But whenever I moved it the values on the screen kept changing in some weird way. Your supposed to select the object and then click the arrows that show up on the cylinder. Never heard of click and drag? Yuck, it's unusable.

We are sorry you feel this way. We are a small, independent team that has been creating Morphi since 2014. If you had reached out to us directly at email@example.com, we could have answered your questions in real time and helped troubleshoot any issues as you were having then. We are happy to respond to your comments: Regarding dimensions, they appear when you select an object and click on the ruler which is in the editing toolbar on the right. For inputting dimensions, you have two options, size and scale, both of which have been requested by our users. Regarding moving objects horizontally, you can click on an object or group and drag it around. Users have also requested x, y arrows for horizontal movement so that is why they are in there, but you do not have to use them if you just want to click and drag objects horizontally. To move objects vertically, there is an z axis arrow which is typical of many 3D modeling apps. We also have precision positioning tools for moving objects and groups on the xyz axes. These tools are used a lot by our users who are creating intricate models and need to move in tiny increments. We have videos and a detailed handbook summarizing all of the tools linked in several places in the app, including in the Help section. If you would like to see how people are using the app, please visit our Morphi app instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/morphiapp/?hl=en. As always, please feel free to reach out to us directly by email, even if you have asked for a refund. Thanks for your feedback and wishing you all the best. Morphi app team
