Description

When we realize that life is short, our problems suddenly seem smaller. We find more meaning in the everyday. We feel more alive.

Mortal helps you gain a new perspective on life by reflecting on death. The app features a series of 21 guided audio lessons, called "contemplations", which help you explore and embrace the fleeting nature of life.

Sounding dark? Don't worry. Mortal is a friendly and meditative journey, drawing inspiration from Buddhism, Stoic philosophy, meditation, and personal experiences navigating life and death.

In just a few minutes each day, Mortal helps you befriend your mortality and put your life in perspective - so you can see what matters most.

“Death is a mirror in which the entire meaning of life is reflected.” - The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

“You could leave life right now. Let that determine what you do, say, and think.” - Marcus Aurelius

“Death is not the opposite of life, but a part of it. - Haruki Murakami

Incredible app that makes you feel most alive

Mortal takes you through a beautiful important journey to wake up, live fearlessly, and feel fully your aliveness.

Death has always been a sensitive topic in our culture and is often avoided. Growing up, I’ve observed people tiptoe around it like a plague. So naturally, we grow up fearing death for ourselves and our loved ones. But what Mortal did incredibly was share a unique, creative, and safe journey to befriend our mortality. Personally, this created a massive shift in my perspective about how precious life is—not just mine and my loved ones, but all life in the planet. We may even find more clarity in ways to navigate our problems, find our purpose, and find the deeper meaning of our lives. Much grateful for this.

Come with openness, curiosity, and gentleness :) one of the best gifts you could give yourself.

Meaningful

As someone who is closer to the end of life than the beginning, I found this app to be an easy, non threatening way to slip into the contemplation of my own death while also remembering to be grateful for and present in my life. It seems to provide a sense of relief and freedom to think about “the elephant in the room”. I highly recommend it to everyone as a way to gain insight into this powerful subject.

Great Idea, Great Content, but.,,

We spend so much of our lives pretending we are immortal. The problem with that is that we don’t pay attention to the good moments, and often let them slip away. I wish I’d had something like then when I was young… I would have lived my life quite differently.

I’d have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that, sadly, the developers apparently abandoned the app a couple of years ago, and it has bugs that make it hard to use.
