Almost good

Doesn’t work very well on iOS, and I’ve contacted Motu several times over the years about improving it, but there is almost never any updates. There was an attempt to make improvements a year or 2 ago, and it is a bit better, but landscape mode is still basically unusable, the faders scale to a weird uncomfortable size and you can only fit a few faders on the screen. They also eliminated the personal monitor option from the iOS app so any one using the app has full access to the interface, but when I give musicians control of their own mix I don’t want them to have full access, I want them to be limited to their mix and that’s it.

Disconnects, Never Updated

The app would be at least 4 stars if it would consistently find my MOTU 8PreES, but it typically does not find it and repeatedly disconnects. This app hasn’t been updated in 3 years!!! If you think it will be fixed, think about what 3 years of no updates means.

For the app to see my 8PreES, I have to disconnect my iPad from wifi and reconnect. Then it will typically find my interface and connect. Unfortunately it will eventually disconnect. Sometimes it will reconnect automatically after a while. Sometimes I have to disconnect my iPad from wifi and reconnect again. Sometime it will appear to be connected when it is not. Very frustrating when in need of a quick adjustment.

I use my 8PreES all day long between my real job, streaming, music work, video editing, etc. Since I use it for a lot of real time mixing, I count on the MOTU App. I hope they will update it, but I frequently wish I had bought something else because of the app issues.

Almost poibtless

This app will find a MOTU avb device that is connected to you computer but not directly to your router....that's about all its good for. They didn't change anything from the desktop browser app, so it's totally cumbersome on an iPhone, possibly better on an iPad. You can only see one fader at a time. Since it's the same as the browser app, you're better off connecting your unit to your router and logging into it by just entering the IP address displayed on the unit. If they made I nice dedicated app, that could make these units a lot more powerful!
