I did it- I dropped my IMDB account!!! After 10 years, I found something that beats out the competition! I was wary since IMDB import wasn’t a thing on here and my 3K+ watchlist would not be fun to manually switch over. After reaching out to the creator it wasn’t even a WEEK before IMDB import was added. The creator is super responsive and it shows that this is a passion rather than a little project. It still has room to grow- higher detail on film data and greater sorting options (like by genre or IMDB rating), but I’m not even worried about them. This app gets better with every update! I’m a die-hard for this app now.

Thanks so much for the kind words and the detailed review, it means a lot! 🥹 I’m looking forward to continuing to grow and improve the app with your feedback 🤝
We need poster art grid view please
Kyjyu
Coming from tv time and the import was pretty smooth it looks like. First thing that caught my eye though was unless I’m not seeing it, for tv shows it would be nice to have an option for the poster art in the home section instead of the episode art. I love that there is a grid option cause I always preferred that layout.Love to see already a “haven’t watched in awhile” section. One issue though is there is no sort for that to last watched sorting. Next unless I don’t see I still hope we get a “haven’t started” section next.Update it would also be nice if when holding on a show in the home or library changing the library status wasn’t multiple clicks. Would be nice to just have it there right away when long pressing. Also another qol of life change would be a way to select multiple shows at a time under library cause so many of my shows didn’t go to “gave up” or “paused” to match tv times

Sad Circumstances, but I’m VERY Glad I Found This App.

After the announcement of TV Time’s discontinuation, I began looking for something to “replace it” in my heart, and I soon found Cinephile. I love the design, UI, look, and feel. It’s just so charming, and it’s really the only app I can see myself continuing my TV and Film journey with. It’s just so beautiful and clean. I can only really think of a few things to make my experience on this amazing app better. 1. To my knowledge there isn’t a way to post/read public comments on Films, Shows, or Individual Episodes and I would really like that, as to feel a better sense of community in the app. 2. I would really like a companion website so I could access Cinephile outside of IOS devices.3. From my research, It doesn’t seem that this app uses any AI features or content, and I prefer it that way. I just hope it stays AI free…Regardless of if my wants come true, I will be using this app quite a lot and I’m excited for my future using it. Thank you for the amazing app!! <3

Hi you’ve just made my day with this beautifully written review and feedback. Thank you so much! 🥹 What happened to TV Time was indeed unfortunate, but I’m very glad to be able to provide an alternative for the community. Thank you for choosing Cinephile 🍿As for the feedback you’re providing, I’m very happy to tell you that all three points are very much considered. There’s a community feature in the works, and a companion site (while currently slated for much later on) is also being considered. As for AI features, the app only uses Apple’s in-house Foundation models, which is basically a completely private AI assistant that lives on your phone and doesn’t communicate with external services like Open AI or Anthropic. It serves only to give you a summary of your statistics.Kind regards,Mario
This app has it all.

This is probably the most well-thought-out app I have ever used. The level of detail is outstanding. Plus, it is very user-friendly and also looks great too. I have only been using this app for a couple days now, but I had to write a review because I am so impressed. If the maker of this app (Mario) is reading this right now, I only have one suggestion… Add a button where people can submit a movie or TV show that isn’t in the library that should be added. I just searched for a documentary that came out in 2025 and it is not there. Would love to submit that info as a suggestion to add the documentary to the library. Forgive me if this is a feature, you already have in place and I just didn’t notice it yet. I will also suggest this addition in the app where I saw you have provided a space for recommendations (which is a brilliant idea, by the way). Good job, Mario. You are brilliant at app development. Thank you for your hard work on Cinephile. I love it!

Thanks so much for the kind words, and the detailed feedback. It means a lot! 😊I could look into building the feature for manually add items, but frankly, the TMDB database (which is the source for Cinephile) rarely ever misses. You can submit this documentary they currently lack in the database and they’ll add it immediately (if you’re not sure how to go about it, just email me the title and I’ll pass it along to TMDB).Cheers!Mario
This update is bringing the goods!! There’s a lot to unpack here, but here are the essentials
- You can now select your favorite characters per movie/show/episode (you can also import your TV Time character votes!!)
- Community reviews will now appear in movies/shows details screens.
- GIFs are also now included! Open to all users, Premium or otherwise.
- You can share profile cards and links to let everyone know where and how to find you in Cinephile.
- There’s an alternative log in option with Google.
