4 stars, but needs work to be 5
Aesthetically it’s a little cheesy, but it’s not too tough to navigate and runs pretty smoothly. There are a number of inexpensive bundles but the quality varies. The Sidaris movies are the same print and extras from the recent blu ray release so those in particular look better than they ever have.
Two problems: 1) it needs an option to download. In this day and age not being to take your collection on the go where WiFi might not be available or is spotty is a necessity. 2) not being able to merge their earlier library as Millcreek with this new service is especially egregious. Fix these two problems and this budget movie bundle streaming service will be a five star app of its kind.
Surprised and a bit disappointed
Most of the movies are extremely obscure, however there are many titles, especially TV titles, that are unavailable on iTunes. They also preview full episodes on some shows. Sadly, despite a price for an entire series, I seem to only be able to buy individual episodes which is cost prohibitive. There also seem to be missing episodes, so for now I’ll enjoy the freebies and hope they fix this. There’s a lot of promise here.
It appears I tried the app really early, so I wanted to update and give MovieSpree an extra ⭐️. I can now buy titles and have. I purchased the entire “Kids In The Hall” library for a great price and, once I found my new library menu, discovered the videos were high quality and complete. I read someone complain there was no binging, but my wife and I pressed play and watched several episodes with no further interaction required.
MovieSpree is clearly a budget digital library service, but not “cheap” other than perhaps some cheesy graphics on the interface. I highly recommend it for hard to find TV (and TV movie) titles.
Could some tweaks, overall not bad.
I really have no complaints except for the fact that I have to select each episode 1 by 1 rather then it just playing through them.
