One of the best games I’ve ever downloaded
I’ve been playing this game for about a year and I can honestly say it’s the best game I’ve ever had on my phone. If you like the play style than you couldn’t ask for anything more.
The devs are always on top of any bug and fix it promptly. Sending out a message letting you know the issue and when it’s fixed giving you some gems for the inconvenience. Almost always within the same day, if not than a matter of hours.
Some games if you don’t pay to play you won’t be competitive but I think I spent like 10 bucks 6 months ago and havnt spent a penny since and I’ve always been in the top 10 on the leaderboards. They balance it out to reward skill over excessive play time as well. So if you just want to hop on after work or every now and then you’ll still have a chance to place high on the leaderboard. Of course if someone spends several hundred dollars they will be ahead of you but the game is fun and if you play you’ll catch up in no time.
Microtransactions need work
This game is truly wonderful! However the most busted part of the game is microtransactions. The level scaling mechanics seem to work well and reward long term diligence playing, but every offer is exorbitantly overpriced. Nobody wants to spend 30 or 40 dollars on a single purchase. They need to make a few of the items cheaper so that users looking to pay stay interested. If there were more deals that were better priced, I'd have spent probably 30 dollars on this game so far, even if I'd only have gotten a few epic items out of it. But if the only offers they sell that yield good items are 30 dollars, I don't like spending that much at one time. Sure there are some cheap deals, but they have horrible rewards.
I understand that this is much intended to keep "pay to win" out of the picture, but the higher levels still require lots of skill so cutting prices won't do much besides bring the developers more money. As somebody working in marketing analytics, I think that a more profitable business model that restrics "pay to win" to a large extent would make the game more satisfying for players who like a bit of instant gratification, as well as the developers who will greatly profit more in the long run.
Runs cost energy now?
I loved this game. My account has the hours and the multiple season passes to prove it. Sure, it’s a grinding game but it’s a lot of fun. However, this last update…what happened? Runs now cost energy? It costed energy, at times a lot, to obtain the Keys to open the corresponding world in the first place. So why then does it cost energy to utilize the obtained Key reward(s)? It really takes the fun out of obtaining a Key reward. Prior to this latest update, I would grind through the game using up my energy, watch a few adds for more energy then CONTINUE playing the game with the keys I earned when I was completely out of energy. I would test out the newly obtained characters, weapons and skills in different worlds. Having the option to pick three characters for that run was really cool too. With this new update however, when I’m out of energy and ads, I’m essentially kicked out of playing until my energy refills. This update has really disappointed me so much so that I’m going to search for another game.
It’s not really fair to the people buying ads for and during those runs considering my screen time is now reduced by two-thirds. So, you can keep your 100 gems for the new season because I don’t think I’ll be playing this season. Fun fact, it cost 150 gems to “continue playing” when I failed during a run.
