The music practice app I’ve been looking for

I’ve been using Mujo for several months consistently and it has been the only practice tracking method I've been able to stick with. It is fast and simple, while allowing me to track individual exercises so I can track not just how long I practice but what I practice. Within each exercise, I am able to quickly add notes to help me track different variations to ensure that I’m not spending too much or too little time on any one variation. It’s also helping me even out my practice so I don’t tire myself out on exercises or an etude before I start my repertoire work. And it’s very handy to have a metronome always at the ready, without changing apps or even changing screens.

I’ve used other practice trackers and felt they were cumbersome or only tracked the session as a whole. Mujo is the app I’ve been looking for. And as some very conscious about data privacy, I love that the app collects no data.

Great practice app!!

I really like this app! It is intuitive and easy to use, and it has really helped me focus my practice sessions on the areas where I think I need the most work. I use it every day. It’s great to be able to track how much time I’ve spent practicing various exercises. The built in metronome and notes sections are also a real plus for me, as is the ability to custom name (and later edit or archive) the various exercises. Another plus is that I can time my practice sessions on various exercises in two different ways, either using built-in times (e.g. 1 min, 5 min, 10 min, etc), or a using simple stopwatch. If I had only suggestion for the app developers, it would be to add a 2-min interval for timing. Sometimes 1-min is just too short, and 5-min is too long. That is not a complaint, it is merely one user’s suggestion to improve and already fantastic app. Thanks!

I teach guitar and I highly recommend this app

I have no less than 6 music apps on my phone that I jump between during my practice sessions. My metronome only does one thing. I record videos of myself practice. I have some journals to record what I worked on this week. I use a clock app to time myself. It's a lot to shuffle through.

Mujo folds those into 1 spot. It’s a great tool for musicians who don’t want to flip between tons of apps. Reflecting on my practice routine is important. I sometimes can get stuck on one practice exercise - particularly one I enjoy - and skim over the things that are hard.

The timer is my favorite part of this tool and it fixes this issue! The timer lets me know if I’m spreading out my time evenly.

With these tiny adjustments I’ve optimized my routine. Some guitarists fall into the trap of “I practice for 12 hours a day” but I’m of the belief that if you optimize, a focused twenty minute session can be all you needed. Mujo helps me stop flipping through apps, and it focuses on both my practice content and practice efficiency.

If you want to work smarter not harder, then Mujo is your weaponof choice. Highly recommend.
