This is an AUv3 compatible Multi-Track Recorder plugin specifically designed for AUM and other DAW's that don't support audio recording capabilities.
MultiTrack can be used for a host of purposes such as a tool for recording and layering audio for export to other DAW's , creating that perfect loop for other third party applications or recording vocal sessions to accompany you in AUM. Its uses are endless.
It features the ability to record up to 8 mono or stereo audio tracks per instance, with the ability to run multiple instances under the control of your host DAW. MultiTrack has the ability to run standalone using it's own transport or synced to a host which allows synchronous control of multiple instances.
MultiTrack supports various recording modes including the ability to set punch in and out points for sample accurate recordings. Press the Host Sync in order to the advantage of the hosts transport controls or enable the remote button to enable host recording controls (great for NS2).
Use the Audio Pool window to quickly and easily import, export and perform mix-downs of audio clips. Quickly and easily move audio files using drag and drop to the time line or between the audio pool and the Files App. Imported audio is automatically converted to the projects sample rate. The audio pool also features the ability to copy and paste audio directly from the iOS pasteboard as well as preview and manage your data.
An intergrated 8 channel mixer allows you to control the level, pan and effect send levels. Although AUM allows some great routing options for third party effects, MultiTrack also includes an extremely CPU friendly beat synced delay and reverb which can be used where recording pre-effected instruments is not an option.
MultiTrack allows per clip volume level as well as being able to control start and end cropping and fade in/out on a clip by clip basis. All these operations are quick and easy to make using the touch screen alone.
Also included is the ability to perform operations such as splitting, normalising, reversing and time stretching of audio clips all with a multi-level undo built right in. A comprehensive set of selection, copying and duplication tools make editing a breeze.
Each track has it's own mute, solo and metering which can also be used to monitoring incoming signal levels. Finally you have the ability to mix down a selected range of your song or create perfectly looped samples for use in other DAW's , samplers and drum machines such as DigiStix.

So Close to Perfect
This is a great quality app that fills a huge hole in iOS music making for any workflow that doesn’t include one of the full fledged DAWs. Well, mostly fills it. Just one small change and it’s perfect as far as I’m concerned.
All this app needs is a way to arm recording from within the app when the “Remote” function is enabled. Right now, disengaging Host Sync and engaging Remote lets you set a loop range for playback, but forces you to start recording only with the Host’s record button. AUM won’t let you press record unless you have something armed to record ... which you don’t need if you’re using this app. And, AudioBus doesn’t even have a record button, so it’s useless for that there.
I’m hopeful this one last, simple, piece will be added, but so far, though the developer has been quick to add other features this one has been met with silence.
I hate to take off a star for just that, but it really does remove a significant amount of the usefulness IMO. Hoping I can pop that fifth star on there soon. Because this is an IOS essential app.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for the very positive review. Some times we have to work within the restrictions of AUv3 but if you have any suggestions on how I could achieve the remote recording please let me know. I'm happy to take a look at any suggestions that help improve the product.
Sync is broken
I have to be harsh with a one star review because this app is unusable when syncing. The recording starts a bit early throwing off the loop. The main reason I bought it was to record loops from my live setup. Imagine my surprise when the timing of all my recordings were off. When this issue is fixed, I’ll change my review.
Reply: Thanks for your response. I have it setup exactly as you said using AUM as the host. The sync is working. It’s the punch in that happens during the sync that is recording a little early and throwing off the loop. You can reproduce it easily. Setup sync in AUM just as you described, load any transient sample into AUM track (e.g. kick drum) and set it to loop in AUM. Cue up a track in your app, set the punch in on bar 2 and punch out on bar 3. Press play in AUM. Now export the clip that was recorded in your app to AudioShare and zoom in on the start of the clip. You’ll see that the kick starts late. This is unacceptable.
Reply 2: Yes, I do expect an app that claims to have a host sync to actually sync to my host. I tried to sync it to my hardware sequencer and it had the same timing issue. Please add a delay compensation option so I can adjust it accordingly. Thanks.

Reply: You say load a kick drum using an AUM track? Surely your not expecting something played back in AUM which would likely have buffering to sync with MT? Maybe I've missunderstood so please clarify.
Can you give me some kind of feedback as to which host you are using and how you are expecting it to sync? You MUST have the Host Sync enabled and use the parent apps transport system. You also need to ensure the sample rate of the song is the same as the sample rate of the host. You can ensure this is the case by creating a new song within the host app before you start recording. If host sync is not enabled then transport is not synced to the tempo of the host, but rather the local tempo.
Please Please Its almost the GOAT!
The idea behind this app is the greatest thing! Only problem is the transport buttons ( play, record, stop, rewind,) cannot be mapped to a controller... why is this? Every other function in the app is mappable. This is a loopers dream if only we could control the transports! Please please add this I’ve never wanted anything more in my life. Will give a five star review if this is added. Pinky swear!
