Muse is your spatial canvas for the messy parts of the creative process. Scribble, sketch, write text, bring in images and web content. Mix it all up, then synthesize new ideas. A private space made for exploration and iteration.

Deep thinking doesn’t happen in front of a computer. We designed Muse specifically for iPad + Pencil, with a gesture-based interface that’s fluid and fast. It’s the app that creative professionals have been missing on iPad.

Here’s what makes Muse special:

Spatial canvas, infinitely nested
Creativity doesn’t fit into the rigid linearity of notes apps or text documents. Muse boards have a freeform canvas that expands to always fit your work. The unique zooming interface creates an organic hierarchy of nested boards and cards which mirrors how you think.

Images, links, PDFs, files, tweets, ...
Most apps make you choose: Are you sketching or writing? Are you arranging images or working with PDFs? Are you collecting links or files? A single Muse board lets you do it all. No switching modes or apps. By having everything in one space, you’ll discover all-new patterns and insights.

Sketch and scribble anywhere
Muse embraces Apple Pencil as the magical tool it is. Ink on top of, next to, or between cards. Type a sentence, then scribble a note over it. Paste a link, then move it into a sketch you made. And the Pencil Toolkit allows you to customize the functionality and style of your tools.

Fluid gesture-based interface
The only thing you see when using Muse is your work. There’s no interface chrome, no omnipresent toolbar. Instead, Muse fluidly reacts to your gestures, and lets you interact directly with content. Zoom into a PDF with one hand, while carrying a card with your other. Once you get the hang of how Muse works, other apps will seem slow and clumsy.

PDF excerpts and Source Peek
Knowledge work depends on PDFs. Just drag them into Muse to start reading, annotating, and synthesizing. The unique excerpting feature lets you turn any part of a PDF into a card to use elsewhere. And with Source Peek, you can always jump from the excerpt back to the original PDF.

From Muse to other apps
Muse wants to be a part of your creative process. So it’s easy to bring material into Muse, but also to get ideas out and into other apps. In addition to dedicated exporting, you can select any part of the canvas and just drag-and-drop a copy of it into other apps.

Own your data
Unlike cloud-based tools, Muse keeps your data fully private on the iPad. Export a “Muse bundle” of any board to send to others, or to keep as a backup. These bundles contain all your data in an accessible format, so you never have to worry about being locked into Muse.

Free for casual use
The base version of Muse is full-featured and free forever. Once Muse has become indispensable for your work, you might want to buy a membership for more cards and larger board sizes.

Built by a small team
Muse is made by five people, and we’ve poured our heart and soul into it. If you ever need anything, we are right here.

Wise in Producing, Dumb in Proceeding

Like, the idea beneath this product is just creative and beautiful. It is well-built, smooth and pretty minimal in design and function, a perfect workspace.

But it is unbelievably useless.
How? The fact that I need to pay 100$ per year is funny. That amount of money and this specific way of paying (subscription) are only acceptable and logical when it is about an active service! What do I describe active service? Sth like Visual Studio, Google Analytics, Cloud Services, generally platforms that offer you a chance to create, produce or learn something!

While apps and services like Muse and such, are products that manage existing materials. They are not offering you new knowledge or values. As we all know, those above (except for Muse) are one time purchases (I even paid Things 80$, that means I’m not against paying apps!)

Idk really but this one is only for those who 100$ isn’t a big deal to them.

UPDATE [May 29, 2021] So, Muse guys have new offers on the table, new and reasonable! 4$ per month is a fine price, still not there but I’m pretty sure they’ll grow up into a fabulous platform!

We've just released some new price options, starting at $3.99 per month. That's in addition to the ability to the app for free with up to 100 cards. Let us know what you think.

Game Changing App for Business and Life

The team at Muse have created an incredible product oriented toward creativity and organization. The app uniquely manages to combine a blank canvas with structural organization, in turn presenting an opportunity for unrestrained thought and productivity. Never before have I been more effective in terms of idea generation and project development than I have with Muse at my disposal. In addition, the founders behind Muse have been incredible to work with. Their ability to source feedback on the product (and most importantly, act upon it) has allowed them to take a game changing application and continually improve on it. With a dynamite product and a special team committed to improvement, Muse will only get better with time. I’ll be along for the journey, and am excited to see how this app will impact others in similar ways to what it has done for me.

Life changing

I have ADHD, and I have always struggled to complete my readings for my classes and take effective notes. I’m also an art student and really think visually and spatially. Because of muse, for the first time in my 4 years as an undergrad, I’m getting my readings done (using side by side mode) and am able to organize my notes and ideas in a way that has really enhanced my learning experience and creative process. It’s like an extension of my brain! I also emailed the team with a question and they were quick and friendly in their reply. Thank you so much for creating this app!
A few things that could be helpful in the future
-Larger card space/ able to go any direction rather than just to the right (I have an iPad mini so I fill up the space quickly)
-Ability to add cards within a Scribble card

Developer Response ,

Thank you, so glad to help in your studies ❤️ And you'll be glad to know we've added larger boards since the time you wrote this.
