Free official guide to the Museo Galileo.
This guide will accompany your visit with audio commentary, text pages, and videos as you discover the outstanding collections of scientific instruments gathered over approximately four centuries by the Medici and Lorraine dynasties. Toward the mid-sixteenth century, Cosimo I de’ Medici formed the first nucleus of the collections exhibited in the Museum today. Pretty good overall
I’ve been on many tours which have audio guides to help people understand what’s in the museum a lot more clearly. However, a common trend I see in these audio guides is the lack of sound quality. They are usually difficult to understand, but this audio guide’s sound quality is top notch. Everything is clear and easy to understand. The only part this app falls short on is the fact that the phone needs to be on to play the audio. Other than that this is a really great audio guide.
Great content but terrible app
The content in this app is great, but the app itself is impossible to use. Audio pauses if your phone goes to sleep, then restarts from the beginning when you unlock again. It's not possible to read any of the audio transcripts if you don't have earbuds, even thought the app claims that you can. Difficult to navigate around, and not clear you should click on the headphone icon to hear audio for each item instead of the videos listed below on each page. This really added an unnecessary level of frustration to an otherwise wonderful museum.
