Description

Music Library Exporter allows you to export your library and playlists from the native macOS Music app. The library is exported in an XML format, and is compatible with other applications, services, and tools that rely on the Music (previously iTunes) XML library format.

== Features ==

- Automatic Exports
- Generate your Music Library XML automatically with a custom defined schedule (even when the app is closed!)

- Playlist Exclusion
- Only include a specific selected playlists in the generated XML file

- Custom Playlist Sorting
- Override the default sorting of individual playlists with over *30 options*

- Folder Flattening Support
- Optionally flatten the hierarchy of your playlists (no folders, all playlists appear top-level)

- Custom Output Location
- Specify the output directory and the filename for the generated XML library file

- Song Path Mapping
- Re-map song file paths by specifying search and replacement text (useful for remote path mapping in external applications or containers)

- Broad Compatibility
- The XML library generated by Music Library Exporter is compatible with Sonos, Plex, Traktor, rekordbox, and more

== IMPORTANT NOTES ==

- Usage

This application does not handle exporting or saving the audio files in your library and, as such, is not suitable to be used as a backup solution. This application simply exports a single XML file that describes the songs and playlists in your library.

This generated XML file is functionally equivalent to the file that is generated by Music when selecting 'File' > 'Library' > 'Export Library...'

- Smart Playlist Rules

Music Library Exporter does not support smart playlist rules.

Smart playlists will appear as regular playlists for any 3rd party applications/services that use the XML library file generated by Music Library Exporter.

This is beneficial in almost all cases as most 3rd party applications do not have proper support for the smart playlist rules defined in the XML library generated by Apple Music/iTunes.

Saved the day

Somehow my Music library lost about 2 months worth of track plays. Most of my smart playlists, which are what I play from almost all of the time, are based on last played date and ratings for my tracks, so this was a real problem. Fortunately, I was able to re-import my most up-to-date library from the XML file created by the app. Thanks!

Developer Response ,

Thank you so much for the review!

This is a fantastic usage of the app that I hadn't even considered before. Glad that it all worked out for you!

Thank you!

This is what I needed to get my iTunes (Music App) to sync to Plex.
