Mutual is the largest and fastest growing dating app for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS/Mormon)!

Mutual is a place where single members of the church can make meaningful connections that lead to real dating. The app was created by BYU grads who know how difficult it can be to meet others with similar interests and standards, especially outside of Provo. Mutual offers features that help you get to know other single Mormons beyond their profile photos, by highlighting information such as mission location, mutual friends, and interests you share in common with potential matches.

The Mutual team is committed to upholding the standards of our faith, and making Mutual a genuine and safe place you can trust. Everyone is required to sign in through Facebook to ensure people are who they claim to be, and all profiles get reviewed by one of our team-members before entering our community. We also make it easy to report inappropriate behavior in the app, to maintain a positive environment for everyone.

In the words of Brigham Young, "This is the place."

Upgrade to Mutual Up for access to exclusive new features, including: Ward Hop to change your location and match around the world, Unlimited Double Takes to undo past swipes, Ninja Mode to go invisible to everyone except people you swipe up on, More Filters to filter by height, and Daily Notes to stand out and increase your chance of matching.

Mutual is free to use, but if you choose to purchase Mutual Up, payment will be charged to your iTunes account, and your account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to your settings in the iTunes Store after purchase. Current Mutual Up subscription prices start at $7.99 USD/week and one week, one-month, 3-month, and 6-month packages are available. Prices are in U.S. dollars, may vary in countries other than the U.S. and are subject to change without notice. No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during the active subscription period.

Not Perfect, but Effective

As a woman, it feels good to be able to play an active role in dating, as opposed to just waiting around for someone to ask me out. I moved out east when I got home from the mission, and the sudden scarcity of Mormon guys to date combined with my post-mission awkwardness lead to going on exactly one date for the whole first year home (sorry prez!😬). This app turned that around. With it I started going on dates again—albeit not a ton, but dates still the same. I could chat with and meet guys from the area that weren’t in my Stake.

Downsides: The maximum geographical distance they give you before you have to jump to infinite is only 250 miles, which isn’t ideal for people on the East Coast. Also, there are a few non-mormons using the app that don’t realize it’s a Mormon thing. Not a big deal, but good to be aware of. I also wish the notifications could make a sound when I get a message instead of just being a silent banner.

Great app, though. Made all the difference.

Easier to use than others, but with issues

Besides the numerous technical issues I’ve had and others I’ve talked to, the app doesn’t allow you to add any more than 5 photos. A dating site is the #1 place where there could never be enough photos, I’m sure everyone could agree on that. Does the license to have the site prevent more than 5? Im sure it doesn’t! Also, you can only type about 3-4 sentences in the “about me” section. While these long sections can get tiring and boring, sometimes, there’s some info that’s very helpful, since there’s literally hundreds of ppl I’ve had to take time on to understand basic info. The amount of “characters” should be left up to the person, not admin. No licenses preventing this either Im sure. One more thing: You never know where someone actually lives, it gives an option of “where you’re from” which many put where they were born (eye roll). They also include “current location,” so they could be in Dubai for vacation. Not too important either since learning where someone actually lives is much more important. You’ll waste a lot of time on this app for these reasons. It’s a huge let down over and over again. But on a positive note, its one of the easier dating app I’ve tried in other ways. Swiping is easy, the few photos are large and easy to see, and the format is easy to read. So I gave it 3 stars.

It’s a game of luck when not paying anything

The app’s way of making money is a bit ridiculous. The way that it works is unique and fun but here me out. If you get a match, more likely than not it’ll be with a person that won’t send you a message nor reply to your messages. Out of the 20+ matches I have gotten over a few months, two people have responded to my messages. And now the app limits who you match with when using the free version. If you aren’t paying this company money, you’ll seldom get a match that you’ll have power over. And when you do get a match that the app gives you power over, the other person just happens to be someone that never responds! It is ridiculous the amount of time I have spent swiping on this app trying to find some sort of date and the app is too money hungry to let it happen naturally. The worst part is that the app constantly reminds you that there are many people that think you are cute but you have no power over it until you pull out the credit card. I applaud you developers for finding the most asinine way to interfere with potential relationships. I recommend that you shift your revenue focus to advertisements and extra features. Hindering potential relationships only reduces anyone’s chances of seeming the app as a beneficial part of their life as it did with me. Well done and never will I recommend this app to anyone else. Amen.
