Bluetooth connection is random
I have had my S300i for two seasons now and while the robot works flawlessly (aside from occasionally getting stuck on the drain cover), the App leaves a lot to be desired. Aside from the design of the interface (which could use a engineer with good user experience and UI skills to upgrade), the Bluetooth connection is flakey. By flakey I mean some days it will connect as soon as I launch the App and then other days I have to literally unplug the robot from the power supply and unplug the power supply from the wall, DELETE the MyDolphin App (iPhone 7+ running iOS12), reinstall the app, plug everything back together and then hope the little Bluetooth light comes on when I launch the App.
Come on Maytronics, it shouldn’t be like this! You guys need to do better as the App is seen widely by many folks as useless. I write extensively over at the Trouble Free Pools web forum and, while the Dolphin robots are well regarded, the App is routinely panned as a “useless feature”. You guys need to invest much more time and resources into making the app both functional and user friendly. You’re really dropping the ball here and other robot makers are going to capitalize on this failure.

....but it comes with very little information and no users manual. I have reached out to their customer service 4 times and never got to a real person. Website tells you to call and when you call it recommends you check the website. So no customer support AT ALL. Products need to come with an owners manual. It shouldn’t be the consumers responsibility to find the information on the website and then print it out nor should it be our responsibility to have the Internet or have a smart phone. It is their responsibility to get us the owners manual with the product itself. very disappointed!!

M500 Bluetooth Extremely Slow and Unresponsive
I traded in the Polaris 965iq for this because the Polaris couldn’t climb stairs and got stuck in one corner of my pool. However for a lot cleaning the Polaris beat the M500 hands down. Maybe because Polaris is WiFi vs Bluetooth?
M500 Bluetooth is unresponsive. Using the manual drive you move the app button to steer and it seems like it queues up the messages then sends them all at once. Which causes the machine to oversteer. Which makes it almost impossible to hit specific spots. App and machine are not very responsive to manual guidance. Machine over steers and its hard to do spot cleaning. #1 issue with this machine.
[Edit after Developer Response] it was suggested by developer to stand closer to the base unit. I appreciate the advice but I was right next to it and still had 2-3 second delay before the robot changed direction. Also note standing close the the base unit doesn’t let me see too well of the robot is getting the spots I need. So it appears the robot is working as designed which means it’ll be going back. And I’m on the hunt for another machine. Maybe back to Polaris.
Would be great to add/delete time to program while running.
Would be great to set custom program and remember it.
Would be excellent to have option to remote in with WiFi so can run when more than 30 ft from power station.
Would be nice to receive notification when cleaning done.

Dear user, please stand close to the power-supply, up to 10-20 meters (Bluetooth® technology). Verify that nothing blocks the line of sight to it. Point the phone towards the power-supply. Always allow a few seconds navigating between MyDolphin™ screens, since MyDolphin™ commands pass wirelessly from your smartphone to the power-supply, continuing from the power-supply through the blue communication cable, to the robot, and never directly to the robot. The reason is that wireless communication does not pass through water.
