Cannot access app!

As soon as I opened the app, it briefly showed a screen that said something about an update, but I had installed it only seconds before opening it. Then a login screen popped up and covered the first screen, with a message that the app can only be accessed after setting up an account. However, there was no way to sign up! Using MacBook Pro with latest updated MacOs.
