Description

With mobile ticketing and trip planning, the MyDART app is your all-in-one tool for taking transit in Greater Des Moines.

Buy your bus pass in the MyDART app and start using it on your schedule. DART offers one-way, day, 7-day and 31-day passes for use on all services. When ready to board the bus, activate the mobile ticket you want to use and show your phone to the bus operator to pay fare. If you are a Paratransit or Half Fare customer, contact Customer Service at 515-283-8100 to add those tickets to your MyDART account.

Use the MyDART app to plan a trip and access real-time arrival of buses. Enter your starting point and ending destinations for trip options that best fit your schedule. Use the Next DART Bus feature to get the real-time arrival of buses and view a map of DART bus stops near your location.

Awesome ... but

Let's make it a free service for all .. charging low income people who aren't making it as it is, any amount whatsoever to ride the bus seems counter productive and rather silly tbh IMO

DART has recently expanded its half fare program . Check it out at ridedart.com to learn more about discounted fares.

Update—from clumsy to useless

I updated hoping they fixed the ‘tap three places just to display your ticket’ interface. They didn’t. Instead they made it virtually impossible to find the one piece of info anybody using this app would want: when is the next bus coming? It defaulted from my northbound stop to displaying the southbound (because it is ‘nearer,’ maybe?). I apparently have to memorize which number is the southbound one, or tap one to see which direction it’s going & if it’s the right one. I finally figured out to drag down to update, not tap the info you want to get, as in the previous version. Anyway, it’s a mess. I’ll see if Google maps has realtime info & is usable.

Worked well at one point... then iOS 14 happened

I rely on this app to get to and from work every day, and it worked great for a long time. It is really unfortunate that there hasn’t been an update in 10 months or anything to prepare for the big jump to iOS 14. The app now shows the Dart logo, and then crashes. Every so often I get lucky and it will open, but it for the most part crashes leaving me standing there awkwardly holding up the bus from continuing its round frantically trying to open the app and scan my QR ticket that I paid almost $50 for.
