MyLevelUP is a learning app designed originally for minimally verbal kids on the autism spectrum.

Designed and built by a father to help his son learn to read, the core innovation of the app is that it uses timed access to parent designated "reward" websites (e.g. YouTube) to positively reinforce and motivate kids to complete highly personalized literacy learning exercises. This results in kids being self-motivated to complete literacy exercises, and also self-regulating of their consumption of web-based entertainment. It harnesses the motivating power of modern digital entertainment media, and uses that power to drive positive learning outcomes.

With myLevelUP you can allow you child to earn timed access to a "reward" website such as a custom YouTube playlist by completing a series of basic vocabulary building learning exercises. This will allow your child to learn to self-regulate their time spent on sites like YouTube, by providing them with a path to timed access, and regular junctures at which to decide again whether or not to work for access.

This helps break the vicious cycle baked into many entertainment sites like YouTube where kids will continue watching video after video endlessly, and get frustrated or have a meltdown when it's taken away or limits are imposed.

At the same time, myLevelUP also helps kids develop vocabulary and literacy skills , and allows parents to easily add new words and add multiple photos and descriptive tags for each word to help with generalization.
