Should be pulled from the store until it's ready

I didn't want to spend $120 on a professional MySQL app when I just needed to check something quick on an old database I no longer work on, and took a $10 chance on this because it didn't have enough feedback to tell me if it was good or bad. I'm writing this review to hopefully save others ten bucks.

This app feels like it was done by a high school student who doesn't yet know anything about usability. Just figuring out how to save my first connection took a while, until I realized the tiny blue check mark that I thought showed up after I hit Test Connection was actually a Save button. First query I ran was to call a sproc that returns two tables, but there's no way to see the result sets from one of the tables. None of the buttons have hover text and some have non-obvious icons, so you just have to click around and see what happens. You can't highlight anything in the results window to copy it. You can edit your query - you have to close it, say no to saving, then open a new query.

I poked around a little more, hoping to say it's ok for a casual user but not a professional dev, because I'm all for independent developers, but this thing is really not ready to have a price tag on it. I encourage the developer to pull it, fix it up, put it back out there for free for a while, paying attention to user complaints and requests, then get back to selling it.

Developer Response ,

Hi,
I'm sorry if MySQL Commander didn't meet your needs. Would you mind contacting me directly by email? I'd love to work through your critique together.

Cheers

Nik
