App works well but camera “flashes” periodically
I have had this app and the camera for a few months now. Most of the time I’m pretty satisfied except as many others have said with some of the connection issues and lag time. I want to be able to see quickly why my baby is making a certain noise and if it’s something I should respond to urgently or just let pass. Most of the time though I don’t have too much of a concern.
However, my biggest concern is when the actual camera unit *flashes* brightly at random times throughout the night (almost like it’s taking a photo without me knowing). I don’t know if this is an electrical issue with the unit (which concerns me because it could potentially start a fire) or a connection issue (does it flash when it’s refreshing a connection to the network?) or simply a feature I have overlooked (I know the vtech products connect to server both in China and the United States and it terrifies me to think photos/video is being taken of my baby while asleep). This “glitch” seems serious enough to warrant a 2 star review, especially since I can’t seem to get a response from the company anywhere.

Hi there. We are really sorry for causing concern. The camera has both infrared LEDs for night vision and a Status LED. When the parent unit display goes into dim/power saving mode, the cameral will reduce the night vision LED brightness to reduce power consumption/resources. When the parent unit returns to active viewing mode or motion is detected, the camera quickly returns to full function. At this point the camera's night vision LEDs return to full power briefly until the camera's automatic exposure can balance them at the proper light level. There is also a visual "Status LED" on the camera that flashes during communications. This status LED can be disabled in the parent unit menu if you would like (Menu/Select > Camera icon > Status LED). Works Great!...When the app doesn’t log me out...
I’m not an App expert, and I try to stay off my phone as much as I can to be in the moment with my son, but this is honestly the worst App I’ve ever used...or tried to use in this case. If it wasn’t for the Monitor that came with the Camera, I would have bought another Camera all because I can barely use the App. It seems like every few days this App logs me out for whatever reason, and then it won’t let me log back in. I would have to wait a couple days to even try logging back in. Then on top of that, this past week I couldn’t even tap into the App, and the App Artwork was just this white graph looking image with bo title of the App lol. Luckily the new IOS Update recently added a Recently Used App section, and I could for some reason access the App from there luckily, but I couldn’t from my Home Screen?...so it’s been a bad experience with the App since almost the 1st day we used it.
Otherwise when it works, and i’m stayed logged in, the App works like a dream! They would have a top notch product overall, if they could just get this Login problem fixed finally, and fixed for good. Reading other Reviews, they say that there was some server outage over a weekend. But the thing is that I’ve been having the same issue for almost 6 weeks now...so what’s the real problem?? Just please get the real problem fixed.

We are really sorry that you have experienced issues with the remote access feature. We have very recently had two separate events that temporarily impacted the remote access feature for some users. However, you mention that this has been occurring for many weeks which is very unusual. We want to investigate this further. Can you please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and include your username, product model number, product firmware version (found in parent unit by tapping Menu/Select>Zoom>Product info& support).
Amazing customer service
I bought this camera to watch my son. After fallowing all the instructions and connecting everything the cameras would connect to the parent viewer but not to mine or my wife’s phone. We were really disappointed being that we went with this one specifically to view on our phones. I contacted the customer service through email and it said they would get back to me in two business days. I was told to try several things and went through several more days through email trying to figure out why our phones would not work. After not figuring it out the company offered to send me one in the mail but wanted to try one last thing. The customer service representative then asked me for the serial number as well as the app version I was using. Then maybe an hour later the app had an update patch as well as the camera software. I updated and tried again to connect. It worked!!! I’m so happy with the cameras and the customer service I received.
