Types of Yoga:
1.Gentle yoga is a variation of the Hatha tradition of yoga. It was created to be accessible to all types of students and to support their mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
2.Vinyasa yoga is characterized by stringing postures together to move from one posture to another seamlessly by using breath. This is also commonly referred to as “flow” yoga.
3.Power yoga is an active and athletic style of yoga where one moves quickly through the poses and each pose is held for only three to five breaths.
4.HathaFlow involves breathing, yoga poses, and meditation. It usually helps to relieve stress, support healthy habits, improve emotional health, ease back and arthritis pain.
5.Ashtanga is a flowing style of yoga that involves synchronizing breaths with progressive and continuous postures, which produces internal heat while detoxifying the body.
6.Yin yoga is a slow-paced yoga as exercise, incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine with postures that are held for longer periods of time like 5 minutes or more.
7.Restorative yoga enables physical, mental, and emotional relaxation with the help of props like blocks, bolsters, and straps to support you in holding poses for longer periods of time.
8.Iyengar yoga focuses on alignment, sequencing, and timing. It helps to increase focus, energy, improve physical, psychological health and also release emotional tension.
9.Fusion yoga blends yoga poses with other fitness regimens such as Pilates, strength training, dance, or kickboxing. This lets you burn more calories than yoga alone, while still getting the benefits of this ancient practice.
10.Kundalini uses sound, mantra, energy healing, exercises, and meditations to release trauma from the energy surrounding the physical body.
11.Pranayama follows controlling one’s breath or the vital energy in the body. This is done to achieve a healthy mind, body and achieve a higher state of awareness.

This app has changed my life. I mean it.

I am so thankful for the people behind this app, all the wonderful teachers in it, and for the access to the best possible yoga and meditation practices. Thanks to all of you, yoga and meditation are now the anchor of my life, and I hope to never lose them!

For those who are on the fence, just join! The live classes in this are two way live via zoom - not the “fake live” of most apps.

I used to do yoga when in India before I moved to US. What followed was a decade of search in US for a good yoga teacher. I kept getting put off by the fake spirituality and “fitness only” focus of literally every teacher I tried (in yoga studios and gyms). My search finally ended with MYT, which I discovered during COVID shutdown days. I am never going back to a gym or yoga studio! Believe me when I say that the teachers in MYT teach yoga the right way, and your progress will not only be in terms of physical strength and flexibility, but also mental and spiritual growth. Love love these yoga instructors!

I feel so blessed to have found MyYogaTeacher at the beginning of the quarantine. I have been practicing yoga for a few years at my local gym. This gave me a good foundation of learning pose names and asanas. Your wonderful teachers are taking me to new realms in yoga. They have been taught by the best and have such wisdom, knowledge, love, and care that they bring to each session. In the last five weeks I have become noticeably stronger and more flexible. I love learning about all the different types of yoga and meditation. Because my job has been halted, I have the time to do a lot of classes. I love days when I can do 4 or 5 classes. I feel like the teachers are becoming very important to me and I hope one day that I will have an opportunity to meet them in person!

Great app, but still slightly buggy.

I’ve used the app for over 4 months now, and it’s very user-friendly, and easy to schedule lessons. The company has been fairly transparent about the pricing changes in that period of time. The app itself has had some technical issues from time to time, but their customer support has been quite helpful. They have also improved the customer interface considerably and paid attention to suggestions, which is much appreciated.

As for the lessons, I have nothing but good things to say. I have some familiarity with yoga, but was re-starting from a novice level and was skeptical if this would work for me. I have been pleasantly surprised! It is VERY instructor-dependent, though. Two of the instructors I have worked with are fabulous - they know their stuff, are able to modify to accommodate injuries etc. I didn’t have a great experience during one lesson with a new instructor in the early days but I just moved on to someone else.
