What’s New

Version 2.0

What's new in version 2.0:
• Stop OD NYC has a new look! Our redesign makes it easier to learn about opioids and overdose prevention, and how to report use of naloxone.
• New information on fentanyl, a very potent illicitly manufactured opioid that's driving an increase in overdose deaths
• Updated lists of community programs and pharmacies where naloxone is available
• Worried about someone who takes drugs? Learn more about opioids, how to recognize and respond to an overdose, and save a life with naloxone.
• It's anonymous. Use the "I used my naloxone" screen to anonymously report use of naloxone, and find out where you can get a replacement kit. We do not collect any personally identifying information.
• Stop OD NYC app is FREE and available for download for iOS and Android phones in English and Spanish.

Could be improved

A GPS feature that pings registered trained Naloxone administrators and alerts them of an “unresponsive person” and their location may be beneficial. A certification number system can be used to verify whether the person has received training. Same concept for flash flood warnings on cell phones or Amber Alerts. Similar designs by apps including Waze allow drivers to plug locations of police checkpoints or a police radar on the highway for vehicles behind them. Same concept.

Also, a network where people who use can coordinate and do so in a safe environment may be beneficial. Must make sure that there cannot be any entrapment.

Also, Good Samaritan law should automatically disqualify those who may not be granted immunity due to criminal backgrounds from registering as administrators of Naloxone.
