Great when it works
I subscribed to Neat to keep our papers manageable when we traveled for 8 months. Having the scan was wonderful. I recommended the program to independent contractors who needed to keep records. The past two months I am getting an error message that I chose the wrong file (actually I appreciated having it go to inbox neat mobile). I am not allowed to select a file before scanning and its a challenge to select one after scanning. The inbox neat mobile is NOT a choice. Today after updating the app it crashed when selecting the final destination folder as a second choice for inbox folder. Currently I am over a month behind, receipts are piling up and there are 12 scans that are hung up as “processing” for several weeks. I am unable to delete them after making a pdf and resending the info via email. I want this to work, but reaching my limits of patience. It seems they are using their tech support to create modifications over corrections for their customers.
First 8 years were great-last 3 are awful
I hate to write bad reviews, but Neat continues to frustrate me since they forced me off my Mac-based software platform into their cloud-based one. So many features we're deprecated so this common platform could be forced out on us. I just survived the buggy, lethargic application processing all my receipts for tax season, learning that I have to close and reopen the app after processing every 20 or so receipts or the whole dang thing would freeze up. Each receipt took 4-5 times as long as I could process them on Mac-based app. When I tried to export to excel in CSV or Excel format to do my tax reports, the whole thing just locked up again. All I could do was use the built in sales tax report, but that only had a very small set of fields. Then I tried to use the mobile app to show a sales person a receipt, but the app just kept crashing whenever I tried to display the receipt. What an utter disappointment and embarrassment. Does Neat even test their app or web-based application at a scale people actually use it? It would appear that they do. I hope that Neat has some sort of update coming out soon that addresses some of these stability issues and starts reintroducing do some of the deprecated features.
Won’t let me sign in
I almost quit Neat Receipts entirely when they got rid of the legacy desktop program and the online version was a mess. Decided to give it another go this year and the online interface is greatly improved (still needs work, in particular, the ability to search a single folder instead of defaulting to your entire receipt collection) however this review is about the app. Interface here is greatly improved as well. I had difficulty when I first downloaded the update... if you run into this, delete the app and re-download. So far, the app is MUCH faster than its predecessor and looks promising. I will update this review after I do my taxes LOL
Update: now I can’t even sign in without getting kicked to the welcome screen. Unusable :-(
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
