Many programming flaws!

Finally, a couple of months ago this app started working on MacOS Sierra. That is the reason why I am changing my review. The new version, however, has many programming flaws. One example is that all my favorite colors are gone and I only have “color 32” available (and I have 50 of the same thing). It won’t rename it, it won't change the color, and it won’t even restore to default! I have sent a report on this with a screenshot to developers to no avail.

by far the most powerful outliner

I've been using Neo for several years - since before it was called Neo. It is immensely powerful. It much more powerful - and much much cheaper - than the popular alternative.

Neo has a few interface oddities/annoyances, and the documentation is not very good. So recently, I downloaded the better known, more expensive outliner, the pro version, and took it for a drive. And I really wanted to like that alternative -- they have good documentation and I like their other software.

Neo blows it away completely. I want what Neo can do. The other is just too limiting -- even their pro version. So I'm back. [Ok, I never quite left, but you get the point].

You are definitely driving with a stick with Neo, though. So if you prefer an automatic transmission, if you need some handholding, and if you can live without a lot of power, then Neo is not the droid you're looking for. Pay a lot more and get the other one.

But if you don't mind extra work at the beginning and if you can figure things out on your own -- you can't beat Neo's power, or the price. Please buy it. We need to support this guy.

A Disappointment

I was looking for something to replace the best outliner of all time, Acta - which, unfortunately, has not been updated for years and is unusable on today's system software. Acta was clean, simple, and its "manual" could fit on an index card. I'd gladly pay $30 for it if anyone would update it.

NeoO, unfortunately, is not Acta. I was fooled by one of the screen shots into thinking iit could easily produce a simple outline, where the how-to-do-it didn't get in the way. The lack of adequate documentation is always a problem with these things.
