Fun, but you hit a wall quickly
I like the concept of spelling to attack and neopets is very nostalgic for me, but this game is more of a grindy gatcha auto-player at heart than a neopets experience.
The spelling is reminiscent of a game you’d find in the neopets games room (any other imperial exam fans out there?), and it has a simple but fairly interesting story. it’s fun to try to figure out how to best arrange things on the board to not mess up your chances of success long-term, and it’s satisfying when you spell out long words for huge damage. The first few levels are a blast, but it quickly becomes apparent that there is a LOT of grind involved. I hit the first wall after about 15 levels, and am now spending more time grinding than getting to continue to play and enjoy the story. Optimal play involves leaving your device sitting while the game plays itself, just so you can get to a point where you have enough team members that don’t get one shot by the enemies to make beating the next level possible.
All in all I would say it’s just okay. I’m having fun with it, I just don’t think it has sustainability and know it will hit a point where the grind outweighs the fun and i’ll stop playing.
It totally give it more than 3 stars if it weren’t for a few things...
First- and it’s more annoying than an issue really- for daily tasks it tells me I have 2 when I clearly have none and nothing to claim either. First it started with telling me I had 1 and now the number is at 2.
Second- adding “er” or “Ed” to the end of some words doesn’t work. For example- fix was already placed. When I put an “e” after fix, it allowed it, but adding an “r” after that “e” it said I was placing a complexly new word of “er”. So “fixer” was not the complete word, it was “er” at the end of fix. It does that with adding onto the end of most words and it’s slightly irritating. Another example of what I mean is if you have the word “hand” going across and you put “sock” going down with the “s” on the end of “hand”, it only says you’re placing the word “sock” and not adding onto the word “hand” to create “hands”.
Hopefully that make sense. Other than that, I’m stuck with leveling up characters. The story progressed SUPER fast with team power level and I’m still in the 2,000’s when the story wants me in the 6,000’s.
I really like the game though!!

Game has so much potential
This game seems neglected. It is a really fun and unique puzzle/battle game from what we’ve seen so far, so the gameplay itself is a 10/10. Also its Neopets which is another 10/10. Where they start to lose me is the slow, wonky interface, menu, and buttons. Not to mention the micro transactions, but sadly thus is the norm these days. With a steady flow of new characters and UI fixes and renovations, this game could easily gain traction, and even moreso it the micro transactions were less expensive, or less necessary for game progression. Still, I rate 5 stars because I want to see this game succeed.
