I used this for class, and I love the convenience for teachers and all the selections of music there is. However, I think it is RIDICULOUS how it doesn’t save your takes after closing the app. Also, the metronome, accompaniment, and my part is horrid. I cant listen to the metronome when I don’t have headphones cause the sound doesn’t work, and if using another metronome, it gets off beat. Speaking of, the count off and the cursor is absolutely terrible. It messes up more than it helps. While I do think that SmartMusic has improved a lot, the red/green/yellow note heads are the worst. Most of the time it shows you playing the most wrong notes in the history of screw ups, even if the only thing wrong was your knuckles not being spread apart enough. This app has made me CRY.

The worst application I've ever had

Last year, the original smart music never gave me any issues. Since I've gotten the new smart music, it has forced my band directors to waste their time splitting parts which the old smart music did automatically, it has added more stress to my friend's life, and it has actually made me cry now because it hasn't really worked on my computer for a while now. On the old smart music, the recordings sounded ok and the accompaniment would not interfere with your playing. Now, I'm getting marked off when I'm playing the correct note because of the accompaniment and the recording leaves a lot to be desired. Smart Music should make me sound as good as I am capable of playing, not worse. In my opinion, it is better to listen first hand to your students play than to get this app.

Horrible and inefficient

This is the worst application I’ve downloaded so far-it’s very inefficient, glitches all the time, and is horrible at saving your recordings. Every time I am assigned to do something on smart music, it is such a stress because it takes forever to do, because doesn’t read your notes clearly all the time and glitches when you try to play a song. In fact, I’ve had instances where it marked my correct notes incorrect, and my incorrect notes correct. Smart music also has problems when you try to load the song, because it takes a long time to load, and then eventually just freezes on the loading screen. You have to use a computer for it to work properly.
