Description

Nielsen is a global leader in measuring media consumption. The Nielsen App is for individuals who are participating in Nielsen's media research. If you have already joined one of Nielsen's panels (Digital, TV/streaming, Radio) and have been invited to use the app, please continue with downloading the app.

Specifically, for panelists in our Digital Panel - participation helps us understand how consumers use the internet and their mobile devices by studying the types of websites and apps people like you use. By installing our app on your smartphone or tablet, you’re contributing to the measurement of the digital landscape and are eligible to earn rewards. Your mobile activity will be anonymized and aggregated along with thousands of other participating panelists before any reports are shared.

Before downloading our Nielsen Mobile App, you must first sign up using our registration form (if you were directly invited to participate, use the provided information to register your account). Once your registration is submitted, you can download this app to your smartphone or tablet.

If you haven’t completed our registration form, this app will not function and you won’t receive rewards. In addition, if you weren’t directly invited to participate or did not already register, you can sign up online for the Nielsen Computer and Mobile Panel.

Not bad but could use some updating

All in all the app really isn’t too bad and I don’t believe it slowed my iPhone8 any at all, atleast not noticeably. It just runs in the background and honestly I forget that it’s there 90% of the time.
It would be nice if the app would give you a reminder to login every day tho. I also wish there was more to do in the app to earn rewards points whether it be taking surveys, watching videos, or even playing little games. It just be nice to have something to do and it be more interactive.
I also think it needs an update to streamline the interface/dashboard. It can be kind of clunky and cumbersome to navigate at times. Some of the bigger prizes are kinda pricey points wise. Wish they would have an occasional sale on items.
For a background app tho it’s definitely one of the better ones!

Pros:
easy to install and run
doesn’t slow down your phone
earn points for free stuff just for having on your devices

Cons:
not much to do
outdated interface
big prizes are kind of pricey IMO

Blocks internet access for other apps

I did not experience the slowdown of browsing, widely reported by many other users. However, when connected to Nielsen, some connections simply don’t work at all. Most notably, Apple App Store, when it can’t search for apps and can’t update the apps. Another app is LG SmartSync - it can’t connect to their servers.
There is a remedy however. Your home router most like had not one but two connections, one for 5 GHz, another for 2. Configure Nielsen app for one of them; whenever Nielsen is blocking your connection, switch your phone to use another one. Don’t forget to switch back.
I tried to report this problem to Nielsen tech support, but did not receive any response at all. By all signs it’s outsourced, so not a big surprise. I also reported this to Apple.

Doesn’t slow down the phone

It doesn’t slow down the phone or computer. Tip: After you update your phone, don’t forget to check the Nielsen app and make sure it’s running. It had been sitting there waiting for me to enable background refresh for who knows how long. It updated, so I’m guessing it’s been waiting for a week or two since I last updated my phone. It could have been like that even longer; I don’t know because I never look at the app. I just let it rack up points in the background.
