This boasts about recognizing hundreds of different types of sounds to prevent false-positive snoring events. However, this functionality does NOT work. Each morning I see dozens of false events. When listening to them I hear that many are simple coughs or the sound of sheet movements. Very common things that should never be reported by an app that claims to have been trained on false-positive sounds. In addition, this app does not offer a start-delay… which is critical if you want to fall asleep to TV, radio, etc. Based on my experience SnoreLab does much better at avoiding false positives (by setting sound threshold) and also provides a delayed start. Net… do not waste your time or $ on this app.
Thanks again for the detailed feedback. Delayed start is now available in version 3.0.10. Just below the Start Monitoring button, choose 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. During that time no snoring is detected, so TV or radio while you fall asleep won't count toward your night. The app also uses the wait to learn your bedroom's background noise, so detection is more accurate from the first minute. You can tap "Start detecting now" at any time to begin early. On cost, since you mentioned SnoreLab: its own FAQ describes Premium as a subscription, and the US App Store lists it at $5.99–$9.99 a month or $17.99–$59.99 a year. NightSnore is free to download, and unlimited monitoring plus the full nightly report cost nothing. The optional unlock is a single purchase under $6, with no subscription and no recurring charge, ever. If you did buy it and feel it wasn't worth it, you can request a refund from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.On false positives: we deliberately classify each sound by type instead of asking you to set a volume threshold. Picking the right threshold is hard, and a wrong one quietly hides real snoring, so we felt handing that decision to users would be irresponsible. Feedback like yours has made us reconsider, and we're now looking at offering a sensitivity setting for people who want that control. Sounds that aren't classified as snoring are listed separately under "Other Sounds" and don't affect your score. If coughs or sheet movement still show up as snoring after updating, please email a night's details to bones7456+nightsnore@gmail.com. Real examples like yours are exactly what helps us improve detection.
