I tried this app at the recommendation of another sailor friend. This app lasted all but about 60 seconds on my phone after opening it. If you actually take the time to look at the written reviews, they are all one star. Company must be farming for paid 5 stars out of some app review shop in East Asia. You’ll be shocked to find an actual written review with something more than two stars.Immediate upsell to premium at $9.99… a WEEK!! That’s nearly $520 a year. And if you switch apps for a minute, it recognizes you’ve abandoned their upsell and offers you a promotion of 50% off at $6.99. Last time I checked 50% off of $9.99 did not equal $6.99. Regardless even if you did get it at seven dollars a week, that’s still $365 a year!!! This app must pray on people who take the three day trial and then forget about it. The didn’t even stand my phone long enough to find out if any of the features were useful. Pay an annual fee to the weather channel for premium weather on their app and I think it’s $40 for the year!
The advertising and concept makes this seem like a robust weather monitoring and notification platform, but it is unfortunately not that at all. A lot of people have left reviews about the cost and why it’s too high. I’ll just say this, there are multiple apps for much less cost than this that deliver more. The app has very basic alert options and didn’t come close to what I expected for the cost and advertising.I’m an employer that needs to monitor heat and smoke for my workers to meet state compliance. - I want notifications for specific temperature ranges when they occurs BUT Not an option with this app.- I was wanting to get active AQI updates during wildfire smoke events And once again not an option. Not to be cruel, but I honestly thought this was a scam app after a few minutes of exploring the capabilities. I’ll explain There are many aspects about the functionality that seem to be broken, glitchy or underdeveloped.- The top banner that shows the temp forecast is chopped off and the high and low for the day aren’t even fully visible - when I select fire/ smoke there is nothing that shows up on the map to show smoke- the wind option only changes color where most every other app also shows wind direction on the various area of the map.-temperature is also just a various color map, not points of temperature for reference.I could go on, but I doubt the developer cares or spends much time actually using this app themselves.
I originally subscribed to the NOAA Weather App when it was free. It was always easy to use intuitive and very accurate. A few years ago they begin charging $3.99 for a monthly membership. Knowing it was worth every penny, I subscribed. Well yesterday, my NOAA weather app would only open to a black screen. Tried multiple troubleshooting measures and nothing worked. Ultimately, I deleted the app and reloaded it from the App Store. Now, it wants me to pay $5.99 per week, and my screen has advertisements on it. And Message said I could pay the 599 per week and not get messages. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE $3.99 I PAID 3 WEEKS AGO? There is a selection I could pick titled “restore my account,“ but when you push it, absolutely nothing happens. Regarding the technical performance of this new app, it will only show me the weather patterns in the last four hours. I can’t see 30 minutes from now what the projections are going to be – I guess unless I pay the $5.99 per week. This is very very disappointing, insulting, and extortion.
This is a joke. It should not cost me $6 a week to make sure my kids are safe 6 weeks out of the year. It’s theft. I don’t mind paying premium on apps that have a basic free version once I know they are worth it. It typically takes me a year to determine if it’s an app I’m even going to use so it is pointless to use a “one week free trial” I delete as soon as I see it. I am not happy with this app and will continue to look for an app that lets me know of tornados in my area without me having to pay ridiculous amounts. Yes I’m irritated we are supposed to be on tornado watch the next 24 hours to the point my daughters school canceled but I am still going to have to work. I know the kids are well versed in the NOOA at home but I would have liked to know if we have any of those issues while I’m at work. So glad there are storm chasers in our area I can trust to get the news from.
We the US Tax Payers fund NOAA with an Annual Budget of $6.9b dollars per year (source: Wikipedia) and what do they do? Put out this piece of garbage app and try to bilk those very same Tax Payers out of $5.99/week for a very basic Map App with a janky UI. This App has nothing on the Radar feature built into The Weather Channel App I already have an annual “pro” subscription for, which at only $30/year is but a fraction of the cost A US TAX PAYER FUNDED ORGANIZATION is trying to bilk me out of. This App is a disgrace and a disservice to American Tax Payers by taking the information they have paid for and putting it behind some exorbitantly priced paywall. I am no longer a fan of NOAA and I support any and all efforts to either disband them and/or gut the management and clean house. They have clearly lost their way and are not operating in the interests of the US Citizens who they have clearly forgotten that they work for
You cannot do anything with this app without multiple ads popping up with every action attempted. I do not understand why US taxpayers have to pay for this when we are already funding NOAA. I’m deleting this app right now. It’s impossible to get any value from it without paying for each useful feature or suffer being bombarded with back to back, long running ads with every single action attempted. If some private vendor is using NOAA, their ‘brand’ and their data AND trying to scam more money off the struggling lay tax paying citizen, then said vendor should be found and charged a sizable fee to use the data that are collected by tax payers’ funding. I’m sure in the end, they would end up paying us to use this app.
My review still stands below. Useless as it stands when you download it. Worse in that the price went up even further. Stay with Weather bug, Weather Mate, storm shield for a far superior product without the insane price on this app.———————————-3.99 per week? I didn’t even bother with trial. That’s over 200 dollars a year. CRAZY pricing over something that comes free in most apps without subscriptions. You can’t pinch zoom without subscription? Seriously, basic iOS operation restricted? Save your time and money. My prior review still stands. I thought maybe app owner came to their senses. Weather Bug, Weather Mate, Storm shield far superior on their free products than what this app offer and these apps are free (ad supported) to use.
3 day free trial? I can’t even see the radar 30 seconds after downloading because it’s blacked out with a message to watch an ad or pay for premium and clicking “watch ad” results in a message stating ads are not available at this time. If this is your level of app building, there’s no way I’m paying a dime for it. Honestly I was doubting I’d end up paying your asking price since I can subscribe to cable with a weather channel and local Channel radars (complete with mobile access) for not much more. But Is NOAA not a government entity? Do our tax dollars not fund this? As a Floridian trying to see a potential hurricane headed my way, I am astonished to find this information is only accessible based on ability to pay. SMH.

As one of my favorite weather apps appears to no longer be available, I thought I’d try NOAA Weather Radar. To put it bluntly, this app is a disaster. It is my qualified professional opinion, that not one thought was given to the user. While this maybe, technology, a really cool blending of open source and third party parts and pieces, it falls dramatically short of being useful. If it were an airplane, it wouldn’t just not get off the ground, it wouldn’t be able to start its engine without first flushing a toilet, but only after paying a subscription fee to use the toilet. Does that analogy sound bizarre? Good, because it’s a perfect description for this disastrous application.

I downloaded the app to see the radar and the weather for the week out. As soon as I opened the app it was asking me to get premium for $5.99 it was ridiculous. You could only check the radar for 30 seconds before it blacking out and telling you that you were out of time and needed watch an add afterwards. The weather it's self was so inaccurate, I was told there was clear skies but where I am it's literally raining. It told me I could unlock this thing for free and nearly skipped every step by putting the words at the bottom and nearly scamming me to pay for premium once again. After 5 minutes the app started glitching out and slowing my phone and everything. Don't download this.
