Description

Nodal is an iPad sampler based on the research of Andrey Markov, a Russian mathematician who lived a very long time ago and had a very crazy beard. You know what else is crazy? The sounds you'll get from this iPad app. Just pick some of the gnarly sounds included with it or record your own and link them together to hear the sweet sounds of probability theory.

VERSION 2.0 is out!

First of all, a new look, designed to maximize creativity without sacrificing the nerdiest features.
Second: Nodal 2.0.0 (that's right, it has two decimal points) has been redesigned from the ground up for extensibility and long term compatibility with new iOS features.
Third: The audio engine has been swapped out for AudioKit: audiokit.io.
Fourth: Actual sample editing, cut, copy and paste those waveforms! Or get crazy and play it in reverse!

Still to come:
Inter-app audio will be replaced with Audio Unit Extensions.
Ableton Link.
Audio Fusion will be back soon (in it's own screen), we wanted to make it faster and better before releasing it.
More effects! AudioKit let's us add new effects quickly and easily.

What’s New

Version 2.0.3

iOS 14 Compatibility Update.
Fixed bug with ladder filter.
UI Tweaks.

Unique and Impressive Rythmic Compostion!

At first, I couldn't quite figure out what this app did exactly, but I bought it anyway and quickly fell head over heels for it. Very interesting possibilities once you get the gist of what the controls do. It may seem cryptic, but after about 15mins of playing and exploring you'll intuitively get what's going on.

This new update version is solid and also adds the ability to bring your own custom samples right in from AudioShare, in addition to being able to record your own samples via IAA app hosting or the onboard mic.

There are components of this app that are similar to other markov-chain based algorithms, but the combination of those features and interface are something completely unique.

Impressive app, and potentially a powerful sound generator. The developer seems to be on top of things too and has many other very interesting plans for this app going forward.

Highly recommended!!! :)

nice but needs work

Theres a lot to like with this app, but a few glaring problems right now. First theres no way to delete nodes youve added - the trash can doesnt seem to do anything - youd think it woul let you delete either the node or a group of nodes or the entire page, but it doesnt. Second, oce you set up and run your nodes, when exiting the app you are left in recording mode. while i understand this is useful for cross app arrangements, there should be a distinct off switch to cleanly exit the app - and perhaps a way of saving your nodal arrangements while letting clear the board for new ones. also is there a way to delete the nodes youve created and to delete the preset nodes? and bonus points for adding some more effects like flanging, ring mod, tape echo, etc.

As for the exiting and and some new effects those are on the to-do list.
