Description

NOFFS Endurance Series

Developed by the Navy in partnership with EXOS (formerly Athlete’s Performance Institute), the Navy Operational Fitness and Fueling System (NOFFS) is designed to provide the Navy with a "world-class" performance training resource for Sailors, as well as Navy health and fitness professionals. Using the latest sports science methodologies, NOFFS combines both human performance and injury prevention strategies, resulting in safer training while yielding positive human performance outcomes.

The exercises used in the NOFFS program are designed to replicate the activities Sailors conduct in their operational duties: lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Developed as a complete fitness package, the fueling strategies allow you to determine your total caloric needs based on your personal goals, whether your desire is to lose, maintain or gain weight. The meal builder enables you to choose high-octane foods for each meal, populate your meal plan a week at a time, and email it to yourself.

Finally, the regeneration component of this series will assist you with addressing and preventing common aches and pains. The soft tissue release techniques combined with the flexibility routine restores muscular balance and ensures you develop and maintain the mobility necessary for high-level performance.

The Endurance Series is an advanced program designed as a progression to the Operational Series.

The workouts in this series are designed to assist with breaking through training plateaus while decreasing injuries often associated with traditional endurance training. The workouts can be accomplished in a number of ways to include running, biking, rowing, or using any cardiovascular machine. Beyond the cardiovascular training you would expect to see in this series, additional training components that are vital to your sustained success with endurance activities.. These include pillar prep, strength maintenance, soft tissue release, and plyometrics. Although these components can be completed in separate workouts, together they provide the tools necessary to maximize results.

The six phases of cardiovascular training progressively develops both the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems, effectively enhancing one’s ability to cover a greater distance at a faster pace. The ability to customize these workouts based on heart rate and/or rate of perceived exertion (RPE) will make the workouts challenging and effective throughout the phases.

Great App

I really like this app, does a great job of putting together exercises. My only dislike is that the workout time is way off. For a 60 minute workout, they plan 48 minutes of cardio. That leaves 12 minutes to do the warm-up (pillar and prep movements), all of the strength exercises, and the recovery work at the end. So far from realistic that it's laughable. To do the full 60 minute workout takes closer to 100 minutes than 60
