Do you need security and Web protection for iOS?
Yes, lookout! If you surf the web, log into email or use public Wifi, you are exposing your privacy and sensitive information (like passwords and browsing history) to online threats.

Your iPhone and iPad carry a lot of information and may be at risk. Norton has an all-new security app which helps deliver powerful protection for your device and personal information against cyber threats and online scams.

Norton Mobile Security notifies you when it’s time to take action. Help stop cybercriminals from stealing your passwords, bank account number or other personal information.

►Wifi Security - Uses advanced scans to help detect and notify you about unsecure Wifi networks, and those under attack by cybercriminals eavesdropping on your Wifi connection to steal or glean personal information from the web sites you visit or infecting your device with malware.

►Web Protection - Helps detect and safeguard you from navigation to scam and malicious websites when using your preferred browser, app, SMS, and Email. Helps keep your device clean from viruses and malware as well as privacy of your personal information secure by helping you avoid online scams.

►Device Security - Alerts you when your operating system (OS) is out of date, so you can take action to secure and protect your device against vulnerabilities that could allow cybercriminals to take control of it or steal your personal information.

Our Wifi Security warnings are:
►Wifi Security Green: No suspicious activity detected.

►Wifi Security Orange: You’re connecting to an unsafe or unsecured network. We recommend using a VPN service like Norton Secure VPN to ensure your data privacy.

►Wifi Security Red: The network you’re connecting to is under a man-in-the-middle attack, where an unknown party on the same network is spying on your online activity. We highly recommend that you disconnect.

Are there email scams for iPhone users? Yes. Your iPhone may fall victim to phishing or virus scams just like any other device. This is where you are asked to click on a link for various reasons and end up providing your personal information (like user names and passwords to your accounts) and inviting this way viruses and malware. This may occur through email or text messages.

Are there risks with an outdated OS? Yes. An outdated OS can create vulnerabilities and opportunities for cybercriminals. By notifying you of the latest security patches and iOS updates, Norton Mobile Security helps you keep your operating system up to date – one of the best ways to stay secure from old vulnerabilities and exploits.

Why no notification the other app no longer worked?

So we upgraded our Norton plan specifically because we bought an iPad and wanted protection. Today I happen to tap on the icon and it basically says it doesn’t work anymore for iPad and to contact iOS for options. Chatting with norton rep he tells me to uninstall it and reinstall app —-with same name. After that he wants screenshot of error. A little late for that since he had me uninstall it. Why didn’t norton notify us the app was no longer useable for iPad mobile security? I thought they took my security a seriously as I do. Apparently not. So now I have a Strange looking norton app. Strange because I Can’t really tell what, if anything it’s doing because all it says is my home network is secure. The chat rep didn’t know either. Glad it’s not a norton network or I might not know for months. Is this app doing anything at all for my iPad?? How do I know? There’s nothing there to clue me in. So now I’m typing and sending more screen shots via email of what this currently looks like on my iPad and ...someday...maybe....Norton with fix this????

Questionable worth

When NORTON updated their mobile security for iPhones they did no one any favors. The new version at noted by another reviewer often does not recognize my Wi-Fi network and says I am not connected when in fact I am. And the I have to disconnect and and reconnect in order for the Norton app to recognize the network. The other main problem, and this is even far more aggravating in my opinion is the amount of battery that this app use while running in the background. Upon checking I find that over a 10 day period the Norton app had taken up 32% of the battery usage. Over the next 10 days it had eaten up 36% of the battery usage. I got one have better things to do than continually worry about keeping my phone charged because an app is eating up all the battery life. I have removed the app from my phone. I might check at some point in the future to see if Norton has addressed and fixed these issues.

Sorry for the trouble. With regards to the WiFi network being diconnected, this behavior is observed sometimes on iOS generally with any VPN connection, and is not limited to Norton Security for iOS alone. Please follow the steps here when you face this issue again: Also, we appreicate your feedback on the battery performance and we will pass on your feedback to the delveopment team. You feedback is really important to us.

UPDATE: After a couple of hours, I reactivated the “online” function of the app, and it seems to be humming along with no appreciable delays or issues. I will up my rating from two to three stars now, and report on its long-term performance after about a month.

When I attempted to browse the web, it not only froze, there were no alerts or notifications as to the reason. I deactivated the VPN (web browsing), so I could access the internet. Now it tells me I am not being protected when I am on the web. It makes some sense. With the function on I cannot use the internet. No chance of running into a malicious site. If that’s the choice, I’ll take my chances and keep it turned off.
